At minimum the South Korean President showed very poor judgment with the martial law declaration and at very worst it was a malicious act. Either way, it he seems he’s demonstrated that he is not fit to serve so I’m surprised the impeachment failed.

So this last election was one of the closest ever and the majority party is concerned about losing the presidency due to this. I think that's why they are trying to internally handle it to create an off-ramp to keep it. I have no clue if that's legal or not but I think its more of an attempt to by time to find someone else
