I read this years ago. Cynical but often true look at human relationships

It wasn’t all that cynical! I think the observations were, for the most part, pretty astute. You can see all of them if you keep your eyes and ears open. You can also see what happens when these rules are ignored.

One of the most useful tools out there ever to especially uncover and counter the games psychos run against you!
I've read it in its entirety maybe 2-3 times or more, and used to flip through the content list to pick out what I needed at each fork of the road when buidling small fiat companies for years, so I ended up with all of it pretty much internalized.
Which gives great power, often in situations where you'd normally be weak and set to lose without that!
That of course leads to something very interesting: in order to not go down a dark, dangerous route you need to up the game of avoiding unfair, wrongly motivated manipulation maybe even every single day...
I think the way to go with all of that is to inform everyone around of the whole picture when getting through situations, so that they can see why you might act a certain way if out of self interest only, but together there are better solutions to be found!
None of it is easy, but once you just know how something works you can't just forget about it of course. So as any tool it has be used for good, to upgrade yourself, and if possible at all others too :-)

I think that people, almost always, act out of self-interest, one-way-or-another. I rarely see someone acting out of altruistic motives when I see people acting.

I liked this one:
Bad luck teaches you patience, timing and the need to be prepared for the worst. Good luck deludes you into making you think your brilliance will carry you forward. And when inevitably misfortune comes, you will lack adequate preparation.
I got a lot of training in this one! It is good to see it as one of the rules.
