I know there's lists but I'm wondering if anyone has any personal opinions on what they would call a "must read" I'm sitting on 7 credits on audible, so I'm open to suggestions. I'm open to anything to do with Bitcoin, our financial system, or anything else that people this is important to know in this space.
I've listened to:
Broken Money
Bitcoin is Venice
The Bitcoin Standard
Check your financial privilege
The Creature from Jekyll island.
The Genesis Book is awkwardly missing!
Not sure the audiobook for that is out yet but I know it was in the works earlier this year.
I'm Not Your Bruh, out this year by Bitcoin Magazine, is pretty good but it's mostly about parenting rather than Bitcoin/finance specifically.
Otherwise, all the early books by Nassim Taleb -- fooled by randomness or antifragile
The Genesis book is on audible, I just grabbed it. I'll look into the other ones as well. Thanks for the suggestions π
I recommend Hidden Repression by Alex Gladstein!
It's on audible, I added it to the library thanks!
A warning: if youβve never studied material on the IMF, it will make you VERY sad. The Bitcoin stuff at the end is all that much more invigorating because of this though.
I've learned quite a bit about the central banks, and the IMF and yes, it has been incredibly eye opening, and incredibly sad.
You have made a great start. Resistance Money is very good.
Thanks, it's not on audible, but i like reading physical books too. I'll put it on the list.
The Bitcoin Dog: Following the Scent to the Bitcoin C++ Source Code
I can't read code unfortunately.
you don't have to! The book is "geek entertainment" designed for people who DONT read code! The books biggest fans tend to skip the three code chapters haha. It's very unique!
I'll put it on the list in that case π
Alright!
I recommend the book Bitcoin for the poor, my friend @Aardvark.
I am currently reading bitcoin for the poor and I have find it as a great journey for beginners like me. such a great book as far as I've read
You are right, it is an excellent book π, I have also been in the Bitcoin burrow for a short time.
Thanks! It's not on audible, so I'll put it on my list of physical books to buy.
Cryptoeconomics by Voskuil ... It can be pretty pedantic, and it has some maxi narrative violations in it, but there are quite a few ideas in it that are novel and/or taken for granted.
I'll put it on the list, thanks.
Good book for slaves!
Mastering Bitcoin
https://github.com/bitcoinbook/bitcoinbook
Thanks. I picked it up on audible
Itβs more of a technical book with coding samples so this might be a bit different on audible.
Audible usually comes with pdfs of all of the pictures in a book. It should be fine, but it may be a bit more difficult to listen to at work, since I drive all day.
Resistance Money?
I'll definitely put it on the list. It's come up twice now
Not a related Bitcoin book but I suggest this as a great description on how Europe went rotten from the first world war. Written by one of the greatest european authors of '900 :
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/25739283-messages-from-a-lost-world
I've read over a dozen bitcoin or related books now and these 3 really stood out:
The Fiat Standard
Fiat Food
Check Your Financial Privileges
I've been eyeing the fiat standard for a while. I just picked it up on audible. Thanks.
