Who is your pick for the next world-class tech entrepreneur that hasn't quite had their big break yet?
In other words, who is the 2012 Elon Musk or the 2006 Mark Zuckerberg that is showing signs of tremendous potential yet still flies under most people's radars?

A true 10x dev. Just needs an allstar team and more focus to pull off something Great.
Zuck and Elon are no doubt geniuses, but its their ability to lead and delegate (not just their tech skills or IQ) that made their companies Great.

There's one and only Keyan Kousha, the @k00b.
Is that you @kr?

Good find!

I didn't find it today. It was sitting in my library for a long time.

I don't like him but Sam Altman.

You could be right, seems like he's always scheming on new stuff and I get the sense that OpenAI is still in the early innings of its life.
reply
No way you could consider him below the radar anymore though.
reply
Perhaps not, but if we assume OpenAI is worth $150B today and he manages to turn it into $3-5T in a decade, that would probably take his status to the next level.
That's a pretty solid pick

Peter Beck is my pick

Have you watched Wild Wild Space yet? It's on my list

I haven't watched it, but read the book that inspired the movie 'When The Heavens Went on Sale'.
One of Ashlee's most interesting beliefs is that Peter has a better understanding of how to build rockets than Elon. Considering he's spent significant time with both people and has written books on each of them, that statement carries some substantial weight.
I think most people in the tech industry believe Elon is the world's best rocket builder.

He may have a better understanding of rockets, but isn't Elon evidence that understanding just enough yet being an expert on organization/execution is most of what matters (especially in the world of atoms)?

Maybe, and that's something Peter needs to prove, but I think most people aren't even open to the possibility that someone knows more about building rockets than Elon.
In the same way, people basically assume that Elon is the most competent car builder among all car company CEOs, and they're probably right. IMO it's really gutsy for someone like Ashlee to go against public perception like that.

Yes!

Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg are CIA agents not Entrepreneurs, they work for the state. Real Entrepreneurs are building FOSS.

I think this year if I had to pick a few from the 2024 Bitcoin Founder class, I would say Keith from Branta, Jim from CASCDR and Oliver from Jippi they have all really impressed me in their own way. They are creating new products and niches in the ecosystem, also have to play on a much harder level than prior startups in the past that I’ve seen. That kind of grit builds tuffness in a founder that I wouldn’t bet against. Lot of great founders this year but those stand out.

Hey, just wondering, are you Car from the Stacker News live video on YT?
reply
Probably Sam Altman. Also, k00b for sure

Yeah, after he creates Safe Super Intelligence, SSI, he'll have a good shot at richest man alive, if he chooses that path.

I enjoy listening to him speak about AI. I suspect some amoral company gets to super intelligence (safe or not) before he gets to safe super intelligence.
However if he succeeds, you'd be right.
reply
Linus Torvolds he's done some interesting little projects like Linux and Git.
