Sorry I hit enter accidentally, without giving me a chance to write the body of the post. I'll write below:
In the last week I went through the process of setting up a lightning node (all done manually on an Ubuntu vanilla install, no umbrel, no citadel).
I then got my kids the blue wallet app, and pointed it to the node (you can via the advanced settings).
Then I sent them some sats, and they love sending money to each other with the qr codes, etc. For the next few weeks I may give them a bit of their allowance in bitcoin.
They also started playing some of those games that reward you with sats, they get really excited when they get 5 sats or what not.
A great experience, I recommend it.

Doesent it create problems when multiple ppl are trying to use the same node without some sort of accounting system? Which one are you using? And also, what games is that? Thx đź‘Ť

You need to install lndhub, it's on git and it's created by the same people from blue wallet. It does exactly that, creates an accounting system and when you create a lightning wallet in the app, it starts from 0 independently of how much you have in the node.
The games they are playing are most of them from thndr: bitcoin bounce, bitcoin bay, bitcoin snake, sarutobi. They are on the stacksats.how website.

I always ask myself if it’s a good idea to teach kids about Bitcoin. I think maybe start from 10 years old or such. But it’s a fundamental tool for them and for the global use of Bitcoin.
In conclusion, they are the real beneficiary of all this story.

Your children are very fortunate to have a parent that's teaching them about sound money. They will thank you when they are all grown-up, especially if the world continues down this dark path.

I did this with my family but saved the qr codes of their wallets in my secure folder on samsung in case they lose access to their wallets.

That's it? No more to the story? How's it going? They lose their keys yet? You help them back up their Bitcoin yet? Do you have a little in house store they can spend their bitcoin at? You give them bitcoin for chores? Come on, tell us the whole story!

Sorry I hit enter accidentally, the story is in the first comment above.
Answering your other questions, I backed their qr code yes. But I believe in effect it's a custodial wallet and I'm their custodian, so if they ever lost their phones etc. the funds are still with me.
No in house store they can spend bitcoin at but next time they want to buy stuff like game coins (like roblox, minecraft, etc.) I will refer them to bitrefill and there they can spend their bitcion.

Oh I see. What age are they? At first I thought maybe they were below the age where gift cards from bitrefill would be relevant. You know, like the age where you can trick them to accepting nickel for a dime because the nickel is bigger lol. That age where they're really still learning about money.

Nah, they are bigger (primary school). They spend a big amount of their time playing games, so at least they can earn some sats!

Bitcoin-native humans will do amazing things that are unthinkable to our corrupt fiat minds. Then again, they ought to look around once in a while, and appreciate how we got here :)
