Just found out yesterday that my company got sold to a larger company. I'm sure there's going to be nothing but positive changes because of this /s

Nope, they didn't lay off or anything, everything was fine no one was impacted.

That was an unusual situation then. Usually, there are some lost jobs due to ‘streamliining” or “efficiencies” in the merging. Say for instance the HR departments are not both needed.

Yes, we too were surprised that nothing happened. It's just that our parent company decided to hold on and not interfere with the existing system until needed. I think they just wanted to acquire it. But yeah who knows what could come next?

Was Berkshire the parent company? They do things this way for well run companies.

I already haven't gotten a raise in the last 2 years. I may be time to move on anyhow. The only thing that's stopping me is that it took 10 years to get 4 weeks of vacation. If I start new somewhere, I likely won't have any vacation for the first 2 years.

The trucking industry is really rough. My wife usually starts with 3 weeks vacation as a project manager.

Yea my company used to be really good at keeping up with other companies wage wise, but this last 2 years it's gotten bad.
4 weeks of paid vacation per year? That is not trivial
On the other other 10 years at the same company is a very long time
No raises mean the company is stingy or financially struggling

It depends on where you go. Some companies have the resources or at least have the resources to waste. For instance Twitter before Musk got ahold of it.

Hahahaahahahahahaha….. I have yet to see that happen to all of the employees at a “merged” company. Only some get to see sunnier days. The rest go to the pits of h*ll.
