Im posting this for 2 reasons.
  1. To save someone out there from making the same mistake as me.
  2. To see if someone can assist in recovering the Bitcoin.
Here is what happened:
So while opening a lightning channel I accidentally used RBF to speed up the channel opening. BIG MISTAKE. Please NEVER use RBF when opening a lighting channel. It will turn it into an inaccessible Zombie channel and will be difficult to retrieve your Bitcoin.
I was using ZEUS on my iOS device to open the channel with one of their hosted nodes. I reached out to them and they told me the only way to recover the Sats is to access the channel.db file from my ZEUS app on my mobile device. After hours of research, I find out that this process is easy to do on an Android Device and almost impossible to do on an iOS device (iPhone) ZEUS does not have a process to do this on an iPhone.
Ive tried several third party tools like iMazing with no luck (It gives me access to some of the app files but not the channel.db file that I need to recover the founds.
Ive tried to Jailbreak my iPhone to have deeper access to files on my device. But unfortunately my iOS version (17.7.2) is not available for a jailbreak.
So now my sats are stuck in a zombie channel unless I can access the channel.db in my ZEUS app files. đź’€
Please do not make the same mistake as me specially on a mobile node on an iOS device. If anyone out there with knowledge in the Data recovery / Jailbreak field can help me with this Im willing to compensate for the guidance and will eventually be documented in the ZEUS / Lightning community to help others out there in the same situation as me.

Yes, if people will read my guides their bitcoin lufe will be much easier. I am testing all kind of stuff and sometimes pretenting to do noobs mistakes just to see what options there are or what to avoid. In that guide I also wrote how to recover. Unfortunately for iShit users is more dificult than android. I hope people will stop using iShit, is a nightmare for bitcoin apps.

Two days ago I closed a channel of my lnd node using the lightning terminal. They have a very odd fee estimator with a slider that doesn’t show the fee right away so I ended up closing a channel with a fee of 2 sats/vb. Obviously it would have take days to close so I tried to bump the fee while closing this channel using thunderhub, but my Bitcoin Knots had RBF disabled by default. So, I ended up spending $60 on the Mempool accelerator to speed things up. It worked, but it was a bit nerve-wracking. After the channel closing transaction was accelerated and mined, however I couldn’t see any funds in the onchain wallet and the “change” part of the transaction didn’t even confirm right away. It looked like it had somehow taken my RBF command from thunderhub, which was odd. I had to wait for additional confirmations to finally see the funds appear in my on-chain wallet.
I’m working on some guides for the website and still experimenting with the Lightning Network, so I probably need to be more cautious, otherwise I’m going to burn through a lot of money figuring this lol

It's really bad that these software distros are what they are in the name of helping keep users safe. I don't find either Android nor iOS helpful, and because they form the majority of choice, the net effect is that I use phones less and less.
I'd love to see it possible to see you forensically retrieve that file. After all, it is your property, I'd think.

I did the same mistake: #318818
There is still a 1M sats bounty open to help me recover the sats: #555157
I think you also need your channel partners cooperation to access the funds again because he needs to sign the new RBFed transaction with his node.
I'm not sure if those tools are helpful on the Zeus node but they could be: https://github.com/lightninglabs/chantools

I made a mistake by uninstalling zeus with open channels 🤦
Luckily they forced onchain

I can barely muddle through Xcode enough to run builds, Apple stuff is a shit show, but I think you should be able to connect the device up to a Mac and explore it via xcode.

What if you restored an iCloud backup to a jailbreakable Apple device? (Android device is worth a try also.)
Perhaps the iPad 7th Generation?
Edit: I know you said you browsed the files on your phone using iMazing, but did you also try making a backup and browsing that backup with iMazing? https://imazing.com/guides/how-to-view-contents-of-iphone-ipads-backup

Make me remember of a similar problem with Zeus app while trying to speed up a transaction. The app spent many times 18k sats for nothing, lost forever I suppose.

To me, the takeaway here is f*** Apple and their closed philosophy

Surely there's something Zeus could add to expose the channels.db from within the app so people don't need to dig thru their phone's filesystem in the first place.
Also curious HOW op initiated the RBF. Does zeus let users footgun themselves like this? Or did op rbf from another wallet?

Loaded the ZEUS main-chain wallet into Sparrow wallet. The only option it gave me was RBF, for some reason it did NOT give me the option to CPFP.
I agree ZEUS should have a better method of recovery for iOS users. Also, there should be a warning sign against using RBF when opening channels directly on the app.

You opened a channel from the on chain wallet in your Zeus, then tried to RBF from Sparrow?
Also TIL you can CPFP a channel open transaction.
