The book "Eating and Being" by Steven Shapin explores how what we eat affects our self-image and how our eating habits have influenced the way we think about ourselves. It's a big history of ideas about food and how it shapes who we are. Steven looks at how people used to think about food, from ancient Greece to modern times, and how our understanding of food has changed over time. It's a pretty fascinating look at how our eating habits are connected to our sense of identity and self.

Curiously, something similar happened to my sister in her youth. She was obese and when she ate hamburgers or junk food... She herself said that she felt or looked like a horrible person!!
