@niftynei was gushing about Phil Haney on X, so I was curious. He's worth gushing about afaict.
Maybe I haven't been paying enough attention, but standup comedy feels like it's been in a fallow period for the last decade or so. I mostly mean the art form because standup comedy as a business seems to be booming. I want to blame podcasts for giving half-funny people enough fame to draw an audience while distracting them from greatness, or ZIRP and streaming services for creating a bounty on mediocre specials, but who knows.
