He is bigger than FIDE. Previously refused to play World Championship to defend his title, because it's boring to him, didn't care. Even new world champion said he isn't best player in the world, he is second best after Carlsen, as he haven't beated him.
But it looks guy is inspired big by Bobby Fisher, let's hope he will not end the same way.

Dress code is dress code but if they let him start playing then he should have been able to finish the day and just get a fine.

I think he has gone to enough tournaments to know.
There must have been other factors involved.

Right, l realize its in the article.
How many tournaments do you think he has gone to?
He probably didnt even want to play to begin with.

I read in a local newspaper earlier today that Carlsen didn’t start the tournament well and had only a tiny small chance to win. Not sure if this story is true, but if true, then maybe good for him 🤣

yeah he had an unusually bad first day.
the rule is pretty stupid. at the same time it's a little weird to show up to any party/gathering against dress code standards. no one else could get away with this.

Sounds like it was just the excuse he was looking for to leave the game.

Haven't followed actual games, but if it's true, good strategic move from him! :)
