Out of this list, the promise to Free Ross. (let's see if it happens)
If it something more specifically bitcoin related I would say the halving.

WHY ARE PEOPLE SO OBSSESSED WITH ROSS HOLY FUCK

KILL YOUR HEROES

reply
I AM NOT OBSESSED. I JUST DON'T THINK THE PENALTY FITTED THE CRIME.
WHY ARE YOU SPEAKING TO ME IN ALL CAPS AND BOLD?

because im a rude mean person penguin
reply
Fair enough. I don't consider Ross a hero. I think he clearly knew he was breaking the law and whether he or I agree with those laws is irrelevant. He deserved punishment but what he got was persecution so he could be made an example out of. I think that's wrong which is why I support a pardon for him. A pardon for a persecuted individual is more interesting to me than the other things on the list besides the halving as I mentioned. I guess I could have selected Assange being freed but that has already happened so while notable I consider it less interesting than whether Trump will follow through on his promise.

Remember, remember, the fake-out of November, that got me to set up a node.
reply
The halving was pretty cool, but it did get kinda ruined by those spammers.
My least fav part was bleeding sats under high mempool load from force closes. I almost gave up running a Node!
The ETF was a big transition point in the industry. A lot of wall street started taking Bitcoin seriously. Of course, the Bitcoiners never took them seriously!

For me, it's gotta be this! #648595
A personal milestone

The mempool cleared, surprising everyone who thought fees were stuck high.
reply
Haha yeah I was fearful that the high fees were going to be more permanent. What happened anyway, did the ordinals people run out of money or did people realize it was a scam?
reply
maybe a mix of both! Ahah
reply
Its not cleared. The fees are just low.
reply
What specifically is a cleared mempool for you ?
reply
21 sats \ 1 reply \ @Skipper 2 Jan
Low amount of transactions in the mempool.
Right now we have 195K unconfirmed transactions sitting on the mempool. The fees are low, but the mempool is not 'cleared'.
reply
fair enough

The thing that blew my fucking mind in 2024 was, the approval of Spot Bitcoin ETFs
reply
Remember when the SEC Twitter got "hacked" and it was announced, retracted and announced, what, like the next day?
I either didn't see discussion on this or did no one else find that incredibly suspicious?

100k 🤠
reply
Does mine even count? I would say that when I started looking to learn about Bitcoins and taking it seriously at the end of this year, and joining Stacker News too. I will always remember my first steps.
reply
Getting paid in Bitcoin for my work.
reply
Certainly my best moment in 2024 has been getting started in this and waking up to the fallacy of Fiat money.
reply
The halving.
And the 100 k party 🎉!

maybe not relevant for my fellow stackers and stackers, I consider that the best moment of BTC in 2024 was when through a friend I met SN and started to post content and study posts from people with vast knowledge in the BTC ecosystem and at the same time collecting sats for my wallet. For years I was trying to get into the BTC ecosystem and cryptocurrencies, and I can tell you that my entry was through SN, so for me the best moment of BTC in 2024 was when it came to my life. I thank the Lord for that. Thank you and sats to all
reply
Personally, it's signing up on SN because it helped (still helping) me understand about Bitcoin and lightning.
Otherwise, it's halving because It made the biggest buzz about Bitcoin. There were greater noise like pro Bitcoin president and ga-ga-gwak about ETFs, but they were just noise.
