I checked, and it was 25,635 sats. I'm sure it's just a publicity stunt to inspire posts like this...but hey...I'm not above being duped into that type of marketing. Happy New Year!

PS - a less fun update (skip to maintain good vibes, stay to get pissed and/or call me a statist)

Interesting development: To all that previously have commented on this being a tax disaster: Well, it turns out that in my case, this is definitely correct. I'm constantly getting paid in fiat (cash, CashApp, or check, never direct deposit right now), converting to bitcoin, and then moving to my lightning node (except what I put in savings, which goes to multi-sig wallets). Now that I saw all the hubbub about the "single wallet" tax stuff in the last days before the new year, I realize that I'm basically that guy who is going to just have to make up cost basis guesses and hope that the men with guns realize I'm not trying to lie...
Anywho, kudos to all you non-tax payers out there or people that have the ability to get paid at the same wallet which they can pay bills from. Maybe I'll join you tax non-payers (just since it's so hard to pay them honestly and still have any time to work) when I have less dependents (at least fifteen years from now for any trigger happy IRS guys paying attention)...

im not a hard core dont pay your taxes person, i speak from my experience running my own small business in the US. and the shit ive done to avoid taxes there ( relatively conservative to some of the shit my accountant says his other clients pull either intentionally or unintentionally), there is so many bigger fish out there then a pleb with several thousand in unreported gains. you might get a bill in a few years with a penalty that is nothing compared to appreciated unpaid tax capital if you disregarded a 1099 reported by CashApp or something, but so so unlikely to get audited.
and with it being a new year, take your btc journey off the CEX train and start a p2p bag via Robosats ( dont mix the bags, obviously)🤙

Yeah, this all makes a lot of sense to me. ...although I just saw this morning that all of the policies just changed. lol What a mess the IRS is.

Don’t let the tax man scare you. What ever they report just claim it on your return. If cost basis is missing try your best to put a value there. If you can’t remember just put zero and pay the gain.
Willingly not filing and not paying tax due will get you in trouble. Until we get a massive protest that as Americans we refuse to pay taxes don’t martyr yourself trying to apease libertarian keyboard warriors. If you get caught up they won’t send a single sat to help you.
I am starting to think this tax stuff is just being used to scare people.

Yeah, I’m with you. Just gonna do my best but not waste my life hunting down every tax basis. As far as the libertarian keyboard warriors…I love ‘em. Most of my language here is teasing. Personally, I try to be as libertarian as possible when it comes to other people’s lives, but am not going to risk my kids growing up without me because of death on the tax hill.

Maybe this is a good way to show how absurd and cumbersome it is to treat Bitcoin as property.

Yup!
