I'm beginning my journey of running a Lightning node and I would like to run a watchtower for added security. My understanding is that it's pointless to have it on the same network, so I'm looking for cheap hosting options. Anyone has any suggestions? At a pinch I could use another server that I have on a remote location, but it only has a 5Mbit connection and I really don't want to download the entire blockchain on that if I can avoid it. Also, if I understand it correctly I can run a lightning watchtower on top of a pruned btc node, right? If so, is there a reliable way to not have to download the entire blockchain only to prune it?
Side question: Is there some way to include a reward for the watchtower in the transaction itself? That would incentivize the watchtower operator to do their job and make the system more robust and less dependent on goodwill.

As far as I know, the only thing the watchtower operator has to do is remain online. Does being a WT take up too much disk space? If so you might have a point.

At one point, I just went in the plebnet telegram and found a few other people who wanted watchtowers. We traded endpoints, so were all watchtowers for each other. Worked pretty well.

Interesting idea.
