Not OP here but I love black & white for night time photos. First reason: Color photos are hard to nail at night to color balance especially with multiple light sources of differing white balance. Second reason: ISO noise looks awesome in b&w especially with shallow depth of field

For me , black and white helps up to focus in the story with less distractions
