The country is getting increasingly polarized geographically. Until quite recently, I had the same view as you about CA just being ahead of the pack. Now, I do sense that much of the middle and south are actually going a different direction. Many states are passing interesting laws on gun rights, legal tender, school choice, etc.
They aren't going to go full Rothbard or anything, but I don't think they're going towards CA anymore.
I agree to a point but there is far to much focus on the superficial surface issues.

My concern is that the focus is being led largely by conservatives simply reacting to cultural progressive ideology instead of true reform.
The issues in California aren't new, they have just become impossible to ignore. Was recently in Dallas and it looks like a California city. Same issues.

I'd say the changes happening in many states are not generally happening in their cities. That's a problem for another day.

If you visit rural California you will find the same sort of people you find in rural parts of most states... part of my point.

I understand, but it's translating into changes to state level laws in other parts of the country.
