I've been using minibits for a bit and the experience has been great. The wallet is simple yet some of the features are truly innovative and forward looking. What amazes me the most is the multi-mint experience: it's so nice to switch across custodians with so little effort.
A long time ago, when cashu was starting out, I imagined this far future where normies would have Bitcoin wallets that are actually just using multiple ecash mints in the background without the user having to worry about the details. It gives me hope to see actual code building up towards that.
I did have one buggy situation with an incoming invoice not appearing in my balance even though the invoice had been paid successfully. I reached out to the minibits account through nostr and they helped me recover those funds super easy.
I highly encourage you to try it out and donate some sats if you are as happy as I am.
And yes: when you zap this, it's gonna land on minibits.
Yes the dev Misovan is very helpful and responsive. He really want to improve the app anf fixing quickly all issues. But is normal for a new app and also using a new protocol to have various issues. Important is to give the dev all the feedback you can.
I think it can be a good "starter" app for somebody that just want to accumulate some sats and later consolidate them into a good LN node or a decent onchain UTXO.

Using apps and giving feedback is so valuable. You wanna help build the bitcoin ecosystem then use the tools.

i have minibits, just to play with some different tech, don't really use it for much yet as i don't have a use case personally
after reading this post #801426 i did make my kid a little gift voucher that i printed and showed her how to claim it

Same. I like ecash but don't have a proper use case atm. I suppose that when it's more mature, it might replace custodial LN wallets like WoS for some? As a way to stack for almost free and then send out to self custody.
Maybe the popular "stack" will look like:
  • Onchain for cold storage, savings
  • LN for self custodial stacking and spending
  • ecash for custodial stacking and spending

Thank you for your review, very appreciated.
There are still glitches to be fixed, mostly due to rapid pace of development on both cashu protocol and the wallet itself. This is going hand in hand with regression bugs unfortunately.
Will try my best to make the wallet rock stable and resilient over time.
Still, ecash is not for your savings but for fun, zaps, donations and small purchases, so keep low amounts in any ecash mint / wallet.
Keep wallet seed phrase backed up, all lost ecash can be regenerated with mint assistance if your device or wallet breaks.

Yes, I had the same trouble.
Just gave up, considered those 11,000 sats gone.
Who do I talk to, what was the problem?
reply
Don't, you might be able to recover them.

Thaaaaanks!!

Me too. I had minibits on the backend of Albyhub. Payments stopped going through and now those sats have been stuck for months possibly gone.
I'll still use minibits, but only on their app or through cashu.me.
