@tomlaies posted a good take on "Is it still early?" debate. While replying there @NovaRift came up #855888 with some surprising numbers for Bitcoin vs Shitcoins holders. I refuted the claims and I still refute.
I think we can't get the actual figure of Bitcoin holders (both holding with keys and holding without keys). The number of people holding without keys is much more and we know that. Also we have ETFs, let's just ignore them.
However the people who have something on exchanges, I know they might lose everything one day and they aren't the real holders, but for the sake of numbers let's just count them.
So,
What's the total number of Bitcoin holders according to you?
50 to 100 Million40.0%
100 to 200 Million13.3%
200 to 300 Million13.3%
300 to 400 Million6.7%
400 to 500 Million6.7%
500 Million to 6000.0%
600 Million to 1 Billion0.0%
More than 1 Billion0.0%
Less than 100 Million6.7%
I don't care about numbers13.3%

I think the important numbers are how many bitcoin users there are, especially how many accepters.
reply
Yeah right. The next one will be on it.
Can I assume you only want the number for real holders/users having their own keys?
reply
Actually, no, I'd count people who use lightning regularly, even if they only use custodial wallets.
reply
So you mean you want to see the numbers for the users who continuously transact in Bitcoin as MoE. That's fine. The next poll will be for these users. Thanks.
reply
Doesn't have to be continuous. We're so early, after all. I'd just like to know how many people use bitcoin (including lightning) for any economic transactions.
reply
Alright. Can we say economic transaction here means transaction done for buying or selling some stuff, means used as MoE?
reply
Yeah, I just don't want to include people who are just transferring between their own wallets.
reply
Got it sir. Thanks.
Are you not taking part in the NFL Sunday Discussion?
Grayruby says he hated Eagles because of a misconduct by their fan. How logical is it? #856463
True. I was just amazed why shitcoiners are so into shitcoining despite the world having Bitcoin. True Bitcoiners wouldn't care.

[...] let's just count them.
What for?
reply
Count them for they are holding there unwisely. I mean they are thinking that they have bitcoin. I know there's a difference but many of them would come on the right path.
reply
Crappy numbers... can't I go below 50 mil?
My out-of-the-blue guess is something like 30-40 mil peeps. (unless we count ETFs and exchange balances and pension accounts, in which case it might be ten times that.)
reply
Let's count the exchange Bitcoin people. I think it'd not be good to leave them because most of them will ultimately be true Bitcoiners. Remember how many could have started self custody after MtGox, FTX or Celsius?
reply
Hmm, yeah seems right

Probably a lot less people taking custody of their bitcoin.
reply
Yeah, I can see that for the next wave of adoption. You can see it now I think with the coinbase loan thing
