I feel like it must be fairly high, considering how low our retention rate is. However, I think it's enforced through soft power more than explicit backlash.
There are a lot of people who don't express themselves in ways that lead to engagement and there are a lot of people who are turned off by the kind of engagement they get. Neither of those points are specific to fitting in with a particular point of view, but they are about fitting in with the vibe of the community.

And what I’m curious about is why some established Stackers like @birdeye21 or @Bitman or @nemo (though it has been said that he lurks as anon haha) just disappear into thin air even though they were regular posters who have assimilated into the community and culture here. Why do they ‘shove off’? I guess we will never really know

That's what I'm most curious about, too. Attracting new interesting people is great, but maintaining the relationships we've already developed is better.
