"I am looking forward to seeing the Trump administration's pro-shitcoin stance inspire and develop policies and initiatives that will drive innovation and promote financial inclusion, ensuring shitcoins become accessible to a wider audience,” Tron founder Justin Sun, who purchased $30 million worth of shitcoins in November, said in a statement shared with CoinDesk.

On the plus side, I think it means we're still way early in Bitcoin. I think the freedom language and promise of Bitcoin does inspire people, but that most still can't distinguish shitcoinery from real bitcoin. There will be repeated waves of people getting scammed, but Bitcoin will persist and get stronger through each one of them.

I know. I just worry about people, including myself, who get so excited by NGU that will be caused by stuff like the Lummis news today that we fail to stay clear eyed.

I haven't paid much attention to the political side of things, but it'll be interesting to see who emerges as having more bitcoin maxi positions through all of this. Don't know much about Lummis---does she understand the difference between "bitcoin" and "crypto"?
reply
Yes, I think she does, but from a legislating perspective she really doesn't have much of a choice to put them in one basket. It will be understandable.
reply
Yeah, understandable from her perspective but I'm wondering now what are the policy levers to properly separate bitcoin from shitcoin.
reply
I don't know.

Bad news when people think Justin Sun is on your "side".

What's going on? Are they gonna make WBTC Reserve?

Trump said not to worry. He's only buying wrapped btc this winter because it has been so cold, and he wants to keep it cozy and warm.
