Dogs that are swimmers just make life easier.
Have you ever had a dog that just sank?

reply

No. I had an English Bulldog 25 years ago. She was a wonderful dog. Bold spirit trapped inside an unhealthy, over bred body. I was warned not to let her near water. English bulldogs supposedly can't swim. I took her to a dog park that had a pretty big lake. She spotted it and took off before I could stop her. She jumped in and literally swam across the entire lake. She loved water. From then on I took her to the beach regularly.

reply

You also have another bulldog, right?
I always thought they were a bit slow, but I never had problems with them.
The neighbors had one, rarely did I hear it bark.

reply

This was 25 years ago. They have short life spans. I still miss her. She was an English Bulldog. I now have a staffy and an American Bulldog. They are very different breeds, except for their brains, which are the best😀

reply

The english bulldog is heavier set than the american one, right?
It seems to waddle compared to the american one?

reply

Exactly.

(English) Bulldog

Staffordshire Bull Terrier

American Bulldog

reply

Do you recognize this one?

reply

It's beautiful! I think it's our kinda dog, right?
I too have never heard about it before.

reply

Sturdy looking.

reply

Sturdy and imo it'd be very easy to groom unlike some others.

reply

Good looking pooch.

reply

I know. I like the looks of this dog.

reply

Looks like a Great Dane and a beagle mixed

reply

That makes sense. Who knows what the mix is? From the article:

The founder of the Swedish Kennel Club, Count Adolf Hamilton, bred the first Hamiltonstovare in the late 19th century using several breeds of hound, including some now-extinct German breeds and English Foxhounds and Harriers.
