It seems crazy to me that you can receive sats so easily at the moment when they will be so valuable in the future
reply
That's the fun of it. Sent you some more, btw.
And notice, if we DON'T "share the wealth" (literally), there'll never be any wealth, because what we're doing is what grows the network. It's an exponential function and we're actually still in Bitcoin's early stages as sats morph into the unit of account proper.
That's how Bitcoin went from being something you give away 10 of to anyone who clicks a "giveaway" button on your website, to something else entirely.

Could not agree more. My first comment:)

Living a Bitcoin life … writing this while listening to fountain app earning sats then play solitaire via thndr … we need more of these, working out while earning sats will be nice!

The app Smiles on the Google Play Store offers sats for walking, as well as playing chess. Of course to work for walking, it needs location data permissions, so everyone might not be into that for privacy reasons. (So I just do the chess and daily spins that don't need the permission.) Withdraw at a super low 100 sats via LN.

I mean hey, walking's something I do anyway right. Will look into that, thanks for the heads up!

Sats make it possible to monetize every second. It can literally fulfill the proverb, "Time is money."
reply
Yea and with time spent in bitcoin this equates to energy and value, so everything that we see right now can and must be reframed to the bitcoin standard - sports, music - sats goes directly to where users find most valuable allocation of their time and energy

My sisters kids (9, 12, & 15) are now discussing which games they can get more sats from in a shorter amount of time, And then asking me how to transfer them over to their Wallet of Satoshi's. I'm a proud uncle.
reply
It's happening. Those kids will have a fun life.
Just like old people today look back on, "Back in my day you could buy a burger for 50 cents, and now it costs $8!" kids that age when they're old will look back on, "Back in my day a burger cost 40,000 sats, and now it costs 40 sats!"

Come for the sats,
stay for the revolution.

It is not surprising at all, think about 5-10 years ago when the BTC faucets literally gave sats away

sats? they threw whole bitcoins!

Can anyone please explain to me the v4v model for fountain.fm?
The way I understand it, I earn a small amount of sats by listening, those sats come from the fees taken by Fountain when people boost a show (which has a higher minimum amount to boost, the majority going to the show creator)?
Would this indicate there is a net amount of sats that Fountain is putting up to get things going or is the ecosystem already paying for itself?
I imagine it is going to require a decent amount of people boosting shows from sats from outside of Fountain to enable growth?
reply
They also generate revenue from premium members. As one I can personally say it is not worth it (i.e. I pay more USD/month than I'll ever earn back in Sats) but I look at it as a small community contribution to get more people wanting to earn sats, learn more about ₿, and provide value to other content they value
reply
Yes, this is the way. Some sats are for spending, some sats are for saving.

Maybe the day will come when Stacker News defaults to msats instead of sats because of exponential price action. :)

Some guy in the year 2050: "Its crazy how many sats they were just giving away back in the day. I saw a post with 1,000 sats! That's enough to buy a nice suit!"

Bitcoin is meant to be used and exchanged. Bitcoin is meant to be spent, earned and donated. Bitcoin is meant to be useful and free (as in freedom). Bitcoin is meant to be practical and to be at the service of the people. Bitcoin is the next step.
With that in mind, I see no problem in using Bitcoin in my day to day, since this is its purpose.

This just gave me an idea ... a game of lazer tag but you get sats for shooting people. The leaderboard determines how much each player is worth. Higher ranked worth more.
