Are both using the same protocol under the hood, like separate implementations of lightning Core/LND?
Or is it a completely new, separate thing solving ecash in another way?
Are the creators of both on here?
(sorry if this has been asked before)
Yeah, fedimint being federated is the big difference. I feel like its not really a protocol as much as a method of using cryptography.
Cashu is mostly Python where Fedimint is mostly Rust, also.
I really reccomend checking out this video on the subject:
The video is called "Chaumian eCash in Bitcoin - Cashu and Fedimint"
Its a presentation by Adam Gibson and he gives a really good overview on eCash in general as well as sections on both Cashu and Fedimint.

Thank you! Video is good and think exactly what was after.
Difference of federation makes sense, different trust model.
Programming language choice is interesting note too. Thanks

I recommend checking out this post from Cashu’s author @calle #73445
The main difference is fedimont is federated, multiple custodians who need to reach consensus vs just one. But they are both chaumian ecash, you got that right.

Should have searched before posting. I just saw the post on here about the update to HRF awards/bounties/things and was curious.
