In today's fast-changing crypto economic worlds and social networks attention wars, influencers continue shaping the Bitcoin and Nostr ecosystems. There aren't many, but their power to shape trends and educate the public is now more important than ever. Why? They mostly help drive adoption. They make complex tech digestible for normies and grannies. Their knowledge and engaging content give them this a priviledge and unique position, that sometimes is not rewareded by freeriders and ass milkers, forcing them to find sponsors that ideally don't want. As part of the today obliterated fiat mindset.
An influencer's endorsement sparks interest, increasing the provided value to its audience and the market in general. Nostr is demonstrating the same drive in the past few years, gaining popularity as a decentralized social network—in reality, it is the protocol that supports new social media apps (and not only), not a social network itself— influencers are establishing a crucial role within this new ecosystem, as others did earlier with Bitcoin. For example, could Andreas Antonopoulos be defined as the first playing this role in Bitcoin's early days?
Nostr's unique features provide influencers with new ways to connect with their audience. Its decentralization and a built-in micropayment system powered by the Lightning Network's zaps enable this. These digital thought leaders are educating users about the protocol's advantages. They are showcasing innovative apps and demonstrating censorship-resistant communication that, in some cases, could be vital for thousands of people living under dictatorships. Nostr slogan is indeed "censorship resistant decentralized network".
Influencers in the Bitcoin and Nostr space bring both risks and rewards. They can raise awareness and promote adoption among their followers. They are able to create engaging contents, something that developers and technical people don't care at all. By showcasing innovative projects, they often drive investment and growth in the ecosystem. In the past few years, nostr was invaded by bitcoiners, and most of the contents were going monolithic about it. Nowadays we see more and more creative contents from artists, writers and some of the most famous culinary bloggers jumping onboard the nostr ostrich. I bet this is a good sign!
I'm curious, who has been one of the public faces or official influencer that has driven you to learn something about Bitcoin? Or someone that make you jump in and test a product or service you were looking for? Does this product or service improved the way you use technologies like Bitcoin and Nostr?
I'm curious to hear from you!
