I disagree. Without participation- voluntary participation Bitcoin has no value and no future. Bitcoin is a monetary system built upon voluntary participation and thus is based upon that community of voluntary participants. Without that community of voluntary participants Bitcoin is just maths, unused maths of no value. Get it yet?

Bitcoin implies individuals able to follow incentives voluntarily.
Don't stamp it with community. We can still be friends.

A group of individuals using a common protocol is however by definition a community.
Don't let Libertarian sovereign individual dogma tarnish the idea of humans working together.
Humans alone are weak and vulnerable- most human progress and wealth creation is based upon communities of humans working together.

We are kindred spirits typing on the internet. We are bitcoin users.
Not sure if labeling things "community" beyond town/provinces was ever more than a dead end leading to the hollowing out of towns/provinces.
Each to their own semantics.

It is primarily through working together in groups/communities that humans achieve wealth, power and security. Libertarians might see communities as negative but they are fundamental to wealth creation and economic strength. These are not semantic but demonstrable realities.

I'm thinking of it both in a sense of the internet hollowing out a previously vibrant network of geographically local associations.
Also think about it in the sense of self-appointed spokespersons of "The Trans Community" being contradicted by other trans folks.

Can agree the internet has degraded real world communities to some extent for sure.
