I know that it's a big day for our US stackers, even though the teams playing today are not your favorites, to say it in a polite manner. However, Champions League play-offs will be played this coming Tuesday and Wednesday, so that here we go to make predictions for this week.
One clash is at the top of the list: Man City vs Real Madrid. It has not been a great year for the Citizens but this (and next week's match too) could be the most important in the season. In the other side, Real Madrid is suffering an injury plague with all main defenders out for this match. Two big teams fighting for a spot in the last 16 round. A very early elimination for the team losing. It's going to be interesting.
Also this week, Bayern visits Celtic. It should be easy for the Bavarians to go through though visiting Celtic Park is always a tough one.
Dortmund is visiting Sporting Lisbon on Tuesday. The Portuguese seems are not the same after loosing Amorim to Man United. Dortmund may be a little bit ahead in this tie, though we will see. An interesting fact is that two of top scorers of the competition will be playing these matches: Guirassy (9, Dortmund) and Gyökeres (6, Sporting).
Will surprising Brest's historic season come to an end in their tie against PSG? Just over a week ago both teams played in League One. The result was a win for PSG (2-5) which, added to their victory back in September, seems to give them the favorite title against the Bretons.
Feyenoord will receive Milan in Rotterdam. Their home record against Italian sides has to be considered. They have only lost one match against them out of 11 clashes. They lost badly (6-1) last week against Lille. Over the winter transfer window, the Rossoneri have signed Giménez from Feyenoord and he is already scoring goals for his new team.
Finally, Brugge will play against Atalanta for a spot in the last 16 round. De Ketelaere, one of the key players at the Italian side, was born in Bruges and commenced playing football in the local team in 2008, before moving to Italy in 2022.
