It was absolutely batshit crazy. They had a whole department just dedicated to making sure the dialect was historically accurate for the dustbowl. After the second season, I guess the big wigs said the budget had to be cut because it was one of the most expensive shows ever, and the creator was just like, it’s not worth it if it can’t be basically perfect and said no.
