8 days ago I forked stacker.news (#879762) and set two goals for myself: find a good first issue to contribute towards and learn more about the analytics stack. I'm very happy (and pleasantly surprised) that I actually managed to accomplish both goals! Though I did more than the 1-2 hours a week I initially said I would. But it was a fun learning experience and that's what matters. Not having worked with javascript or next.js before, I leveraged ChatGPT a lot to help me understand the codebase.
I mentioned that I'm mostly interested in building out the analytics platform. So with that being said, I want to solicit stackers' opinions:
What sorts of charts or other analytics about stacker.news would you like to see?
One statistic I always thought would be cool is sats stacked per word, to get a feel for how much it pays to write on stacker.news relative to standard pay rates for freelance writers.
