pull down to refresh

During his presidential campaign, Donald Trump said he would be turning things upside down, and he has kept his promises. All one has to do is to read the latest edition of the New York Times to see how the progressive wing of the Democratic Party is responding: rage, rage, and more rage, as the following editorial declares:
President Trump’s determination to bend the American justice system to his will, combined with his broad tolerance for political corruption and his abhorrence of checks and balances on his power, slammed hard last week into the commitment to duty, honor and the rule of law shared by a group of federal prosecutors in the Southern District of New York and Washington, D.C. The confrontation between Mr. Trump’s lieutenants at the Justice Department — led by his former personal defense lawyer Emil Bove III — and Manhattan’s interim U.S. attorney, Danielle Sassoon, and her colleagues is the clearest example yet of this administration’s efforts to bake quid pro quo deal making, coercive tactics, loyalty tests and other dishonorable practices into American government and warp its long-held principle of equal justice before the law.
The editorial goes on to describe the federal law enforcement apparatus as something one might see on the FBI shows that dominate the CBS network Tuesday nights. That FBI is one in which all agents are impervious to corruption and are crack investigators and crime solvers who rescue the victims of capitalism and white supremacy in the nick of time. However, the real FBI hardly matches the hagiographic portrayal given to it on network TV.
However, the notion that federal prosecutors and FBI agents represent a higher class of people who hold a special kind of honor is better reserved for TV shows created by Dick Wolf. This is not the case of the good guys purging the bad guys as much as it is a political massacre that probably needs to happen, given how the federal criminal apparatus has turned into a monster that can only be brought to heel by someone using the nuclear option.
Yes, Trump and his cohort are cleaning out the detritus from the DOJ and FBI at an astonishing rate. It is about time, too!! They have been used much the same as the NKVD and GRU on the opposition party in power to the Democrats and progressive/lefty/collectivist/Marxist/socialist/communist/murderers. They did everything they could to stop Trumps return and now Trump is going to return everything they did. This is the life of politics: violence and coercion and not the life of the market: volunteerism and choice.
Context? What happened with DoJ? I don't follow current events
reply
They have been going into attacking political opponents and generally behaving like the NKDV. Trump’s people are cleaning out the stables, so to speak. It is a Herculean task.
reply
NKDV? Not following your acronyms.

NKDV
The People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs (Russian: Народный комиссариат внутренних дел, romanized: Narodnyy komissariat vnutrennikh del, IPA: [nɐˈrodnɨj kəmʲɪsərʲɪˈat ˈvnutrʲɪnʲɪɣ dʲel]), abbreviated as NKVD (Russian: НКВД These were Lenin’s goons that killed so many people. They had very interesting backgrounds and mostly came from the group-that-shall-not-be-named. You may want to research that yourself and not take my word for it. Oh, using the progressive/lefty/collectivist/Marxist/socialist/communist/murderers‘ sources won’t help you much, they live by that famous Egyptian river.

He's been in office for a month and he just keeps going hard as fuck.
reply
Didn’t the voters choose that? The only people squawking about it are the opposition that is being uncovered as crooked as a dog’s hind legs.
reply
It's absolutely what he said he would do. It's just shocking to see someone doing exactly what they said.

You know, after thinking on this a little bit, can you see it may be a strategy to make sure that future politicians will never be able to get away with promises made but not kept or bait-and-switch techniques that we have seen all our lives? This may be another way to put everybody on notice to walk the talk. He is demonstrating it by actions and not just words. The lesson will be indelible for all future and present politicians. I also think there will be a lot of resignations ahead of Patel releasing lists, so the compromised pols will be gone.

It would be nice, but this probably won't happen again, at least not often. The incentive to lie is too high.
reply
I am noticing that the incentive to tell the truth and keep promises is also very high, maybe even higher than lying and bait-and-switch techniques. Of course, there are some folks that will never be satisfied or even will always be contrarian.
I know, it is really the first and only time, in my lifetime, that I can remember it happening other than JFK. And JFK did not manage everything he said whe would do due to having his term abruptly cut short. Just hope Trump avoids that fate!! He is tempting it, though.

I saw Tulsi Gabbards opening speech for confirmation and I think she's going to end up a target too.
reply
She was confirmed. I only hope that she does what she is assigned to do and clean out the three letter agencies and survive it. Trump seems to have put together a serious crowd of reformers and disrupters, but, again, that is what he was elected for; to shake the box up.
And, this is before Kash Patel has even been confirmed to head the FBI. I imagine all hell will break loose then.
reply
I can’t wait to see what Patel shakes loose from the FBI!! Just imagine what kind of blackmail intimidation files they have on hand!! And all of those uninvestigated and unsolved cases! I just can’t wait to see the results of Patels information dumps and the alt-media (I don’t really like that name, anymore) going through it with a fine-toothed comb. Perhaps there will be a lot of sudden retirements all over the place and lists popping out all over without redactions!!! I get the shivers just imagining it!!!
reply
It looks like his confirmation vote is coming up. Next week might be very entertaining.
reply
I hope so! It has been so boring these last few months, hasn’t it? :) If Trump keeps this pace up he may have everything straightened out by the mid-terms, except, of course, the money and he is working on that with Musk. Maybe he can browbeat the Congress into even more drastic cutbacks. I would also like to see the 50% cuts in military, as long as Russia and China agree and there is proper verification.
reply
That's the other thing. This new Congress hasn't done anything yet, either.
reply
Yes, they have to start getting on their bicycle and pedaling and pedaling fast. They only have to mid-term to get what they need to get done done! If things go well, they won’t have to worry about the mid-terms too much because a lot will be cleaned up and the crookedness straightened out. Also, the taxpayers’ money will be wrung out of the progressive/lefty/collectivist/Marxist/socialist/communist/murderers’ NGOs and slush funds.
