I wonder at the deep satisfaction that it generated. Is it just the tangible nature of it? Something so manifest, w such clear purpose, one dude structuring the universe? And that is in such short supply?
Yes to it all. I think miniatures also tend to continue representing the majesty of what they mimic.
The rental I’m staying in has all these crazy decks built into a hillside with all kinds of careful details. I have such a hard time imaging someone would build such a thing today, and I’m so thankful someone built it 50 years ago (I’d guess).
