Here’s a hypothetical scenario for SN:
You’ve been forced out of the profession you have done well in for 15 years and without the ability to find a new job within the same profession.
You’ve decided you want to do something practical with variety in each day, ideally with the outcome of being a sole contractor/small business within a new trade.
You can financially front/make up for the up to 3 year or so apprenticeship
If you had to completely start a profession anew; what Trade would you spend your time doing?
Welder / fitter? Refrigeration? Electrician?
What would provide you with satiation, job security, and ideally adds experience to working in Bitcoin related ventures.

Yep along the same lines as my thinking. Trying to understand if refrigeration would make more sense for home integration mining as you’re working more often with heat exchange to different mediums?

Carpenter. If I could choose, I'd do interior finishing. I'd make furniture in my spare time and charge bitcoin for it.

My brother in law has "great hands". I tell him all the time to pack in the bs carpentry job and make high end furniture and sell it for bitcoin.

I'd do a "try before you buy" if at all possible.
In other words, I'd go find some people in the target professions, talk to them, and see if you could be there assistant for a couple days.
They'd be flattered, and you'd get some great information on what the real day-to-day work is like in the profession.

i think if i had to and was going to pick a trade, i would pick electrician, they get paid well, it's not usually as dirty as some of the other trades and i feel like there is a closer affinity with bitcoin, since it's kind of backed by electricity and maybe you could do work for btc mining company or something
i don't see much of an overlap with welding and btc tho lol

Occupational security: a concept that was handled in the 50s. Today that no longer exists.
50 or 100 years ago there happened to find a job or prepare yourself with skills and that you will work until the end of the days.
Today that does not apply. If today you do not have the ability to reinvent yourself and develop other skills is complicated.

Huh, great scenario you are outlining. I would say I would do something out in the oil field, be a trucker or work in a recycling center.
Just high-level things that I would like, I am not technical enough to do the refrigeration, AC, or electrician stuff. I also am not super good with my hands, unfortunately.

Oh good shout - high voltage is only going to be more needed. I am now doubtful that these heavy diesel vehicles will get converted, they’d be doubly big and heavy and have more downtime to charge!

I think std auto e is different well it is in Aus . All the new caterpillar machines are starting to come out electric drive
