I’m interested in the psychology of the haters. Stevenson clearly hasn’t studied Bitcoin. He appears to conflate it with crypto and to be completely unaware of the ethos behind it. However is there another deeper reason why he is against it?
He often espouses Marxist ideas. He always talks about the necessity of taxing the rich as the main way to reduce inequality and that the narrative being pushed by many to explain current economic woes is immigration.
I don’t agree with either point personally but I can’t help feeling that he is being deliberately deceptive. That he doesn’t really believe what he is saying.
Do leftists, socialists, marxists etc, intrinsically have an aversion to Bitcoin because it is a free market invention?
Do Bitcoin haters often hold an unconscious leftist perspective?
In the case of Stevenson could it be that he is just a paid shill for the political establishment. I’ve seen him on the BBC so it’s not an unreasonable question.
You would think that if the left genuinely wanted to reduce inequality, bring people out of poverty and create a better society that they would embrace Bitcoin. However all Stevenson has to say on Bitcoin is that it’s gambling and it’s going to zero.
