Found this on nostr. I'm as jaded as anyone when it comes to this stuff, but it's a fun way to learn about obscure and powerful laws.
Article V of the U.S. Constitution gives states the power to call a convention to propose amendments. It takes 34 states to call the convention and 38 to ratify any amendments that are proposed. Our convention would only allow the states to discuss amendments that, “limit the power and jurisdiction of the federal government, impose fiscal restraints, and place term limits on federal officials.”
They've also managed to make some progress getting legislation passed:
You hear about these every so often. My understanding is that they can't really be limited in scope, because once they're all together anything agreed to by 38 states can go through.

I'm completely jaded with politics but I still really enjoy the show. Most of it is just a WWE type of circus. It's fake drama to get people to vote, because the stuff that's really going on is either incredibly boring, or absolutely horrifying.
