I find this article uninformed and fairly misguided.
first of all there is no such thing as bitcoin jobs. Half of the article is dancing around the fact that most "bitcoin" companies are startups. some might have some of their treasury in bitcoin. Some offer payment in bitcoin. All of the have the same problems as every startup under the sun. And most have more problems due to the cyclicality of bitcoin.
The only difference (potentially, its far from the only industry where people want to work in it due to being passionate about something) is that a lot of people in this industry and either already independently rich and have companies because they want to do something in the space since they are bitcoiners or people who take significant pay cuts because they want to work on something they believe in vs random corporate job.
Also the insistence of "it needs to be a real job" is laughable. If anything the thing that could really enable cool "bitcoin" jobs is novel ways people could cooperate and coordinate without the need of permission of the state. the need of some bureaucrat telling you how a commercial transaction between two willing parties must look and what a company looks like. It is basically saying "i'm disappointed because I cannot get paid market rates in bitcoin while having all the social security and other nanny state benefits and promised income until I retire".
This article should've been one paragraph at best if at all exist.

This! I don't know who came up with this stupid concept.
You are doing a job because you like it, you are skilled for it and is paying you enough to cover your expenses and save some money.
Also so called bitcoin companies in fact do not pay in bitcoin. There are also "bitcoin companies that are doing bitcoin stuff but their income is not in bitcoin and not even have bitcoin reserves.
I worked with a non-bitcoin company that I convinced them to start accepting BTC and also buy more as reserves, and they paid me directly in BTC. That happen because I didn't want to be an employee but having a clear service contract with payment in BTC.
But not all companies can have this vision. It is also about your dedication to push them to pay in btc. So you better educate them well.
Yeah the article is misleading a lot.

There's also the issue where even if you think in BTC terms, people only have so much money to pay you (whether in USD or BTC). And people are psychologically used to paying certain price ranges for certain types of work. No one is going to pay you double (in BTC or USD) to do a salaried job just out of benevolence, and from years of eroding purchasing power people are used to living on subsistence wages.

If you work for a salary, all IT jobs are simirar. If you work for freedom, no salary is required.

Lol its a JOB, it's not supposed to be exciting or special, we do it to earn money and survive, you want fries with that and a special participation trophy for showing up too?
Work in bitcoin don't work in bitcoin, it doesn't matter, do what you want with your time and find he trade off/compensation for your time and skills that best suit you and if you've got shit skills that no one wants to pay a premium for, learn a new one or be content that you max'd out already
If all jobs are shit and beneath you create your own one, that's the market

If we are going to be unbiased, we should account for the fact that fiat jobs are also a sham. Jobs are shams because any profitable venture chooses capitalizing on labor rather than funneling profits back into the company. As long as labor doesn't exceed materials, they get to keep their profits. This is why owning a company is better than working for a company. You will never get what you're worth from working to build someone else's dream.

Man this was a fantastic article!! And 100% spot on!!
I often think this and the lack of true customer support with bitcoin products and services is really hurting growth of the industry beyond the number up aspect.
I noticed you left out commentary about mining and the jobs it brings operating and maintaining Bitcoin mining sites but even that industry
is new.
