@Undisciplined must be reeling as he looks at his 32.5k shares of Leafs Yes for the Stanley Cup.
The Panthers, who own the Leafs, beat them tonight again in their own rink even though they didn't have 3 of their stars in the lineup. Imagine the bloodbath that will occur once the Panthers have all their guys back healthy come playoff time. Yikes.
Let us all rejoice in this embarrassing defeat for the Leafs.
Sats for all, GR
How is the champion decided? Do we have the clash of table toppers from both the confrences in the finals to decide them?
reply
Yes. The champion of each conference plays in the Stanley Cup final. Best of 7 games.

So, it means leafs still have a chance to surpass Panthers. They are only 4 points behind. How many game remaining?
reply
Yes they can surpass them and they might because Florida has some injuries now but it won't matter because the Leafs will play them in the second round of the playoffs regardless and they can't beat them. Leafs only hope would be if Florida lost in the first round.

It's a lot more confusing than I thought. Is there a site to understand how NHL format works. I see there are two divisions as well - metropolitan and Pacific!
reply
There are 2 conferences and 4 divisions. In each conference the top 3 teams in each division make the playoffs and then two more teams will make it as wildcard teams. The division winners play the wildcard teams in the first round of the playoffs and the 2 seed in each division will play the 3 seed. The winner of division winner vs wildcard will play the winner of divisional 2 seed vs 3 seed. So regardless whether the Leafs or Panthers finish first, if they both win their round 1 series they will play in round 2.
The winner of each divisional bracket will play in the 3rd round to crown a conference champion and then the two conference champions play in the Stanley Cup final.
reply
The team finishing first has the advantage of playing against wild card entry. But all matches in the playoffs are knockouts so it may be that some wild card team turn it around and crush the panthers or leafs, there will be no more Panthers vs leafs then.
The teams finishing second and third in each division will meet within the bracket headed by their respective division winners.
Will meet each other right?
So, in the first round
  • No. 1 placed team meets the wild card team.
  • No. 2 and three play each other.
In the second round
  • The winners of round 1 will meet each other from each confrence and division.
In the third round.
  • It's confrence vs Division (finals)
In the fourth round
  • It's the clash of winners from third round.
Do you approve it?
reply
Yes. This is correct.

Yikes! That is a lot of shares.

Good thing they were cheap thanks to my faith in the annual Leafs collapse.
