A Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) image is a non-invasive technique widely used in medicine to observe changes in tissues, as well as their structure, integrity, and composition.
The process of obtaining these images is based on the resonance of nuclei in the presence of an electromagnetic field, which temporarily aligns the body’s water molecules, producing weak signals that create cross-sectional images, like slices of bread.
It is not very common to request an NMR image of the fetus during pregnancy, but if the patient does, this is the result.
Isn't cool to imagine that while you're in that machine, a majority of the water molecules have their nuclear spins aligned? Something that would never happen in natural conditions. You don't feel different, yet there is something unique going on in your body for a brief moment of time.
I thought about that last time I had an MRI (alignment of proton spins)~~

All I could think of when I had an MRI is to try and not panic...
