I was talking with a friend the other day about the tipping culture; so weird that why they don't charge the % on the menu, so customers don't waste time thinking how much to tip, and the waiters should really do their job, I mean that's what they are paid for.

I never really understood why waiters get paid basically next to nothing and be forced to rely on tips. Okay, somewhat of an incentive to serve better but at that point hire better.

It seems like a bad triangle: waiters expect customers to tip them, or else customers get shit service; why the owner doesn't pay a fair salary and hire the people who actually enjoy doing the job, and ppl can enjoy their meal.
