I think what's going on is - people (like me) see the vegetarian diet being pushed, very heavily. And even when it's not actually vegetarian, I see the "eat much less meat, eat much more fruits/veggies/grains" advice everywhere.
No, it's not at the stage of "raiding steakhouses and confiscating ribeyes". Not yet.
But for sure, anybody that sees a standard mainstream doctor (which is a really bad idea in any case) about anything like diabetes or heart disease is told - avoid beef, avoid saturated fat, eat lots of whole grains and vegetables.
I just talked to an older friend about this topic, this friend just had a mild heart attack, and was told to avoid saturated fat, and beef. And the nutritional science just does NOT support that.
I experienced amazing health benefits, going carnivore. No, it's not a miracle cure for everything (except maybe autoimmune disease - do your own research on that), but I'm never going back.
I would continue with Carnivore even if I got only this ONE benefit Weird, oddball health improvements I've experienced on the Carnivore diet Carnivore diet - looks like it fixed this nighttime disorder for me Carnivore diet - believe it or not, it healed this oddball disorder for me Can a keto/carnivore diet heal issues like depression, anxiety, OCD, bipolar? wonderful resources, thanks!
I just remembered that I actually wrote a post on this topic, of vegan and vegan-adjacent propaganda, based on an article by Nina Teicholtz.
There's currently a propaganda campaign against low-carb diets
Dude, it’s funny how vegetarianism seems like some kind of boogeyman to so many people. Like, no one’s raiding steakhouses and confiscating ribeyes, but the moment someone says they don’t eat meat, a heated debate breaks out as if it’s a threat to Western civilization.
What’s even weirder is that the meat and dairy lobby is massive—it controls everything from advertising to government subsidies. Meanwhile, the so-called “vegan lobby”? Pretty much nonexistent. And yet, people act like there’s some global conspiracy to force-feed everyone tofu for breakfast.
The truth is, this whole uproar might actually be a sign that the idea hits a nerve. When something is truly irrelevant, no one cares. But when it starts gaining traction—whether for environmental, ethical, or health reasons—that’s when the over-the-top reactions kick in. And honestly, you don’t even have to be vegan to notice how oddly obsessed some people are with hating on plant-based diets.
And to be fair, it makes sense that people get defensive. Eating meat is deeply ingrained in culture, and nobody likes having their habits questioned. But come on, can’t we all just chill? At the end of the day, everyone should eat whatever they want—no need to turn it into a holy war.
