Same, parties are too much work. My ideal birthday would probably just grab a nice meal with my family, and maybe have a jam session with a few buddies. That's it. nothing fancy

Same here. I'm not into parties on my birthday either. I just want to spend time with my wife and kid, maybe hang out at a park, zoo, or up in the mountains.

Ideal: A spa day followed by a nice dinner with the husband while someone else cleans the house…
Reality: Being awakened an hour earlier than normal by children overly excited to give mommy presents, trying to keep the house reasonably clean while feeding and educating three kids, and then a dinner with the family.
I bet when the kids are grown and I get my “ideal,” I will really miss my current reality.

I am like you, I often don't really want to do anything for my birthday. It actually makes me dislike my birthday somewhat, because it feels like a waste of the special occasion to not do anything.
Last year I went to a spa for a few days with my fiancée for my birthday. That ended up being a good birthday.
