Man, these are some good reflections right there

And a corollary tragedy of this is that it's self-perpetuating feedback loop ie "Friends" don't talk about politics so just about the only input that the tribalists get is from those who stand to gain from the tribalism. Every election cycle Tribe D and Tribe R and their surrogates campaigns are primarily just variants of "if the other tribe is elected, we're going to hell"...

It’s a good way to lose friends

Yeah, I hear you. Politics can definitely get ugly with friends. I’ve had my fair share of heated debates where I almost thought I was gonna lose a friend over it. Had this one mate who I thought saw eye to eye on most things, but when the last election came around, we couldn’t be more opposite. It got to a point where I just stopped bringing it up with him, because I could tell it was just pushing us further apart.
All for something that everyone forgets about again as soon as its over...
In the end, it’s all about knowing where to draw the line. A friendship’s worth more than being right, I guess. But then again, if you're both open to hearing each other out, it’s not always a bad thing to challenge each other's views. Just gotta be careful, or you might end up questioning the whole friendship - but overall, fuck politics because its all corrupted in the first place.

There are two forbidden themes to discuss with friends. First one politics, second one religion. You can discuss everything except this topics, because it can destroy weak friendship

I only discuss politics with friends who are interested in politics and SN politics/law/econ territory
I discuss politics with 2 friends primarily. We are all part of the same tribe but we are not an echo chamber because we disagree on many topics.
