He kind of buries the lede here. He later announces EconoKidz which are free economic lessons he's made for kids with his kids.

Can't teach what you don't know.
Most adults don't understand the first thing about money. Those who do tend to teach their kids.

To a first approximation, all useful information has been removed from government education. That means most parents are also unable to pass down useful knowledge.
Ever since Khan Academy, I’ve been super bullish on resources like this.

I'm in a bit of a weird situation where my job is pretty cushy, but I think it's really only supported by government misallocation. I too think resources like Khan Academy are the future of education.
I imagine I'm not the only one who feels this way.

k00b told me that SN might hire an economist at some point. Maybe one of us will be able to earn an honest living when that time comes.

The majority of adults don't understand the fundamentals of money so it is kind of hard to teach something you don't know yourself.
I love projects like this that take complex subjects and try to make them understandable for kids. My son did a Biochemistry for kids course a few years ago that was done by a harvard trained chemist and he loved it. I watched a couple of the lessons too and it was really well done and understandable. We only spent $100 for that course for him. Amazing value.

That's awesome. Was it an online class? And how did you go about finding it / ensuring that it would be a high quality experience?

Yes it was online. My wife found it. We didn't really know if it would be a high quality experience but thought it was worth a try for $100.

Parents want to spoil their children. In their heads they think they can create a world for the child where the child doesn't need to understand money. This is of course nonsensical but it's how the parent mind works.

most people, probably even the majority, still believe money is backed by gold.
sadly, as many stackers have said, when an adult is clueless about a subject, the kids have no chance

If the government taugh about money management, then they wouldnt be able to control people.
They want to keep the average person a slave to the system.
