The majority of adults don't understand the fundamentals of money so it is kind of hard to teach something you don't know yourself.

I love projects like this that take complex subjects and try to make them understandable for kids. My son did a Biochemistry for kids course a few years ago that was done by a harvard trained chemist and he loved it. I watched a couple of the lessons too and it was really well done and understandable. We only spent $100 for that course for him. Amazing value.
