This morning, opening TOR, I was offered a survey.
I don't usually participate in surveys, but one offered by TOR Browser intrigued me.
I glossed over some answers that seemed too personal to me, until I stumbled upon this question. I froze, I reread the question many times to be sure of what I read, and now I want to talk about it with you.
Now I am very worried. If TOR also starts collecting data, where will our freedom end? Does anyone have the same concerns as me?

It does seem out of place doesn't it.
I just tried the TOR browser but it just worked as normal.

t does seem out of place doesn't it. I just tried the TOR browser but it just worked as normal. Of course, for now it works normally, I'm answering you via TOR Browser.
The point, however, is that if TOR enters a similar question in an official survey, it is likely that it is considering changing its policies by including some data collection.
What do you think about?

I don't see why they would need to do this. On first thoughts I don't like the sound of it but if it can help improve the protocol it might be worth it.

In all honesty, I don't understand how anonymous data collection can help a protocol that has been stable and working for years.
To help the protocol, just create a middle relay in your home, which is also very useful for masking a possible home bitcoin node.

It's not the protocol, it's the browser itself
this is a Product Manager looking for something to do.

Tor Browser != Tor

You are right about this. But TOR Browser is the system that 99% of people use to connect to the TOR network. Therefore, if the browser were compromised, network access would be difficult for many people.

@plebpoet this is my post.
Please read it and if you don't care that your data goes around, please avoid answering.

thanks - I think you are right to be concerned about the security of your private data. Probably don't trust TOR. Probably keep delicate stuff offline as much as possible.

Tor was the last bastion for free internet, if this too falls how will we be able to defend ourselves?
From your answers, it looks like you want to keep trolling me and I don't understand why.
