Set a goal. A big one. Something that you have been postponing, something that you have been dreading. Or something that would just make yourself proud. Go big or go bust.
Post it here. Make it tangible.
Don't say: I'm going to learn Korean. Say, you will learn 1000 words on Memrise.
Don't say: I will work on my side hustle. Say, I will increase my income by 500k sats.
Don't say: I will help the Bitcoin ecosystem. Say, I will onboard 3 businesses to accept Bitcoin.
Don't say: I will help SN grow. Say, I will post a long form high effort post every day on SN, and post 1000 low quality posts in #948515.
10,000 sats will come to the one achieving his most crazy goal, as decided by myself at the end of next week (Sunday). I'll probably let the community sway me one way or another, but wanna make sure I'm not rewarding the biggest troll~~ Some kind of POW will be expected, but you don't need to doxx yourself while doing so.
You can have subgoals, but try to fit them inside one single overarching goal.
Daily updates are appreciated as comments to your own goal comment.
I'll also post my goal, but I won't be running for the reward of course.
Let's get some work done the next 7 days!
The next 7 days I shall triage and fix a 10+ year old bug that was brought to my attention Friday evening AND rework the code in question to make sure that these types of bugs are easier to spot on that part of code from now on.
I shall earn 0 sats in this process and shall gain 0 reputation points. I will however be very pleased with myself when this is done, +1000 ego points.

It's. Finally. Done.
(c++ is such a pain in the behind if you have to code for compatibility with 3 versions of the standard - I always forget what I can and cannot use on old versions and spent half my weekend getting it done.)

Waiting for reviews on the bugfix! (aka bothering people on their signal to go test lol) As for the refactoring... it's going well but I'm now at "think this through once more" stage. Have to take a break soon to not go in circles, so I'm gonna go to the beach and have me a cocktail.

I hope to get some funding this week for Gödel's Therapy Room or find a compute partner that can offset some of our API costs. \m/

Interested to know how someone increases their income by 500k sats.
I've been putting off cleaning out the study and the shed. It's not much, but I'll be doing it this week. Just to get it out of the way and open up my time to the next project would be nice.
Thanks for the inspiration!

Haha, was just thinking if I'm going to get it done.
Yes! Half way there

Some semi-focused open source contributions on SN can get you there if you have the proper skills...
Good to hear it inspires others. The goal was mostly selfish to get myself some accountability to get those collaborations out of the way~~

Figuring out why my BitAxe isn’t working properly. Joined the discord and am actively getting support!

I am setting up a version of Stacker News on app.cg — a new social platform designed to be user-friendly for both Web2 and Web3 audiences.
For now, I have purchased and registered a username for the community.
My next plan is to start posting basic articles about Stacker News. The essence of app.cg is similar to Discord but offers several superior features, allowing users to sign up via wallet or email.
Currently, I am encountering difficulties with automatically forwarding posts from Stacker News to app.cg.

Not an extraordinarily big goal, but I’m going to present on AI-enabled features on Student Learning Space, my country’s e-learning platform, to my coworkers.
I should be spending all my free periods planning for that workshop, but I already planned to collect my passport tomorrow.
As if that isn’t enough, I still have to write an email tomorrow to entice my coworkers to sign up for the workshop
Let’s hoping that I emerge unscathed

Thanks for checking in.
The workshop happened yesterday, and I literally worked up to the last minute before it started, hoping to derive the secret sauce that would help my colleagues use the AI Generator without thinking too much.
I think it went okay. In hindsight, I should have waited for my colleagues to arrive at the feature I was explaining before demonstrating it. I was too naive to assume that people had a working knowledge of how to navigate the system. Only realised my mistake when I walked around after my explanation to check in with them haha
But in any case, it’s DONE AND DUSTED

I just published my book
Bitcoin Hands-On! 28 “learn by doing” exercises to master the basics of managing your own Bitcoin, including wallets, transactions, and self custody https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0F4SZSCH8.
I'm happy about that, but sales are very slow, I gotta hussle on marketing.
In order to do that, I will finish a 1 page website (bitcoinhandson.com). It'll be something I can point people to, for promotion, instead of always having them go to the Amazon link.
It'll be very basic, and I'm not a web dev, but it'll be something other than the "coming soon" page, which is what I have right now.
Thanks for the motivation, and the prod to get really specific!

So so. I'm relying on someone else for part of it. I may need to do something really basic.
But that "coming soon" page has got to go!

I think this would be the perfect thing where ChatGPT could shine. Vibecoding a webpage would definitely be something up its alley~~

I did something close - I used Carrd. It's a reasonable tool. Not that bad a learning curve. Actually, picking the tool was almost the most time consuming part. I spent way too much time on Hugo before deciding that it's a product for web design professionals.
I'm calling it done for now. https://bitcoinhandson.carrd.co/
I was NOT able to get the domain transferred in time, they have a 4 day delay (thanks for nothing, Blue Host is an awful company). It will eventually be on bitcoinhandson.com.
There's still a lot to be done before this is a good selling tool, but I needed a push to actually get started, so thank you for this thread!

The post in #948515. is indeed a poor quality one.
A good idea of a high quality one would be appreciated, that'll help.

My goal, clean up heavy backlog in some of my collaborative works by
  • Closing the work with the Daegu group by sending them the final calculations.
  • Submitting the 2 papers with the Texas group after reviewing them.
  • Finishing the figures for the SNU group and making first paper draft on Overleaf.
  • Calculating the topological numbers for the YD group. Figure out the physics angle for the paper.
Will add more if I feel I am on track.
This will free up a lot of mental space and time to tackle other projects.

I've already put in a few hours on the first task. This is going very well.

Progress is good. Tomorrow is a day off, so I'm not sure I'll be able to put in daytime work. Let's see.

Coool idea! I'll perhaps enter the next week. I'm already in the middle of something, I'll just share it later.
