Yeah, I was thinking something like under $50 all in. This is a great idea though. I’m less thinking of for myself so much as folks that straight up CANNOT be spied on or just don’t have much capital.

Under 50 would be tough these days for a computer of any sort that is portable and pocket size.

I guess part of what made me start thinking about this is learning how to setup raspberry pi 0s, which they sell for $10 at the microcenter I go to.

That’s said, that’s before camera, battery, and all that stuff k00b mentioned.

That's a zero. They have their usage but I'm skeptical of them for your use case. You'd need a screen and input device.

OR, would it be possible to use an ssh type situation where the buyer (with the pi zero wallet) basically clicks the button that comes on it to confirm logging in to the stores wifi and then clicks the button again to confirm payment. Maybe an itty bitty screen (like the one seed signer uses) is installed to confirm payment amount. The whole thing would still be under $30 and not trackable (transactions are trackable, but not physical location (thinking about folks in like Myanmar or somewhere like that, could be needed anywhere in the future)). So no camera. The only issue at that point is power.

I still think a phone is a more practical approach. I really think that in the Myanmar situation. There are much cheaper phones than older Pixels that will run lightning wallets just fine. Don't get me wrong. I like thinking about what can be done with crazy constraints like "no phone" or "no screen".
But this reminds me of (and I forget the name) a company in Africa that allows people to use SMS to send bitcoin and pay for things in bitcoin on feature phones. There is a custodian involved but its interesting.
