This is how it works:
10k is not a a lot as it explains.

even that 10k is not a lot (I agree), it should not be in a 7th position between other non-so-important posts.
A boost is a boost and should stay on "hot" for a certain period.
If other posts have a higher boost, ok will be displayed on a higher position than a 10k boost.
If I remember correctly it was a time when anybody could boost a post, even that wasn't his post. It was removed that feature?

I agree boost is unclear. I’d like for it to be clearer.
Very early on SN you could boost other people’s posts. We removed it.
