Related to this, my old post about node runners using Tor only #944885
I keep my position: Tor is good for watching porn, not for running LN nodes. Two different use cases.
I think most people use Tor with LN to hide their IP address from the network and attackers.
This line is the key in your post.
If you really want to not reveal your IP from where your LN ndoe is operating, use a VPN IP, with a Wireguard tunnel towards your LN node machine. That will add a faster route to your node and also full control of the traffic.
These are all just tools and they have their uses, strengths, and weaknesses.

users must learn all the tools and not rely only on what some influencers said on podcasts....
I could say that almost all bitcoin podcasts are deceitful

There's a lot of deceit for sure. But a lot of it is people just repeating stuff they have heard. They don't actually understand the tech. Never done it themselves. You see this with the thinking around VPNs. People don't get what they are. I mean... most people don't even understand the difference between Wifi and the Internet...
Some might scoff at that but ask people you know. People do not understand how things work. I mean, people don't understand how their cars work. Not even on a basic level. Forget high tech stuff.
This is why I don't think bitcoin needs everyone to do 50 hours of study on it to succeed. Most people are just sheep that follow a leader. They are blind. Then you have the blind (influencers) leading the blind. The vanguard (stackers) do need to know though. Or anyone that really wants to control their future. It only takes time and dedication. You can learn so many things if you just freaking try. Put in a small amount of work. Turn off the NetFlix and Tictoc (Tiktok I don't even know how to spell it lol.).

perfect example: Simply Bitcoin podcast. They just became parrots and repeating bullshit NgU and saylorism.

I think I once watched a few minutes of that show... I got hype vibes real quick. I'm too old for that shit.

@DarthCoin do you have a guide on setting up this part for a Umbrel or Start9 node?
If you really want to not reveal your IP from where your LN ndoe is operating, use a VPN IP, with a Wireguard tunnel towards your LN node machine. That will add a faster route to your node and also full control of the traffic. You rent a VPS, that is a simple virtual machine in a datacenter. You install your own software OS and Wireguard tunnel. So chances that somebody else is watching your traffic are almost null.
I've done the reverse wireguard tunnel thing but the last time I set it up there wasn't a good guide that was easy to follow for node runners.

Not me, but @Hakuna did a great job with that:

IMHO I would not use an Umbrel or Start9 bundle. Just a simple BTC + LN node. Pure and clean. No other bullshit.

I zapped @Hakuna as well btw
