Portnoy said he spoke to the two people who are alleged to have ordered the anti-Jewish sign, as well as to their families. He said they have agreed to his offer to send them to visit Auschwitz, a World War II concentration camp in Poland that now offers tours and educational materials.
He said that he hopes they learn something and that in the future they think twice before they throw words around. "To me, that's a fair outcome of this event," Portnoy said. "We're going to send them ... to Auschwitz and learn a little bit about history and hopefully, you know, get educated and use this as a teaching moment, not just for them, but maybe for everybody."
Hard to argue with his idea to resolve it. Educate those about what occurred so they are no longer or hopefully no longer as arrogant.
I think it may be a fair outcome, but the cynic in me thinks that these knuckleheads will just think they scored a free vacation to Poland.
As I get older, I think my patience for youthful hijinks is getting lower. If parents & teachers would crack down earlier and harder on disrespectful behavior, we'd all be better off for it.

Oh I agree these kids could easily easily do what you say and treat it as a trip and I think if they do Dave would publicly destroy them. He seems to be trying to keep their schools from kicking them out at the moment so if they fumble it I bet he stops and Temple boots them given it’s a clear violation of Code of Conduct

Throw words around? He wants to burn them to the ground for a sign? Last time I looked we still have a first amendment. This isn't England.

He has come out and said his initial reaction was wrong and he and the families agreed to this. Also actions have consequences this isn’t nearly as bad as it could be for the kids involved.

I'm confused. You need an underlying act to hang a hate crime on. What were the allegations? The article wasn't clear. Was there an assault? Property damage? Trespass? It sounds like they were just holding a sign?

So this happened at the bar Dave Portnoy’s owns… he’s also Jewish and has been very outspoken against Antisemitism.
The police are investigating it as well as the Universities that the kids go to. Portnoy is now offering an alternative and a positive way to stop the investigations and keep the kids in school cause this definitely violates Temples Code of Conduct.

True. I guess what irks me is all the ACAB https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ACAB chanting a few years back was celebrated by college campuses. Enforcement of these policies do not seem even handed.
