I know that if you go on vacation and do not zap or create new content for a day you lose the hat, that is a bit harsh, I wish that it was at least two day of no activity before losing it, but at the moment that is the way and in my opinion is a great motivator for many...

Ecuador 🇪🇨  needs a Bukele-like lider

My hometown is in dire need of great leadership. The country is being occupied by the cartels drug lords. Today Ecuador ranks among the 2nd most dangerous country in Latin America, while only 5 years ago was one of the best places to visit in the whole planet. Today Ecuador is an unrecognizable place. Crime scales daily, people is even afraid to go out. There are these so called "Vacunadores" or Vaccinators whom would go to business places "offering Surveillance" and if people say no, they threaten them to give them money or they would come and steal, and in some cases they would kill business owners and such. There are shootings everywhere. Jails are taken by the Gangs and used as bases to organize crimes and stuff... Our beautiful Ecuador is being destroyed and all of this thanks to our fucking "leaders" who do not do anything to stop this crap. Politicians I. The whole world suck, but in my country they somehow they manage to suck even more. They all take advantage of the situation just to keep stealing. 
Marcelo Villavicencio was a politician unionist who was running for president of the country. He was going against all of these shit, exposed so many bastards who have been working in tandem with the criminals. He had a great vision for the country, but guess what, someone took his life. He got shot back in August 9th after coming out of a speech where he lost his life. Now we are left with the same old shit... 
Ecuador is a country rich in natural resource, it has so much to offer to the people and even the world, however, people there live in dismay, afraid to loose their lives over not even much because this has caused greater poverty.
If we could only have someone like Bukele! Things would be so much different. There's is so much human talent there, intellectual, athletic, artistic, technological, medical, you name it, ecuadortians have demonstrated that we are competitive. True Ecuadorian people like working hard to achieve our goals and dreams. We do not know what it means to say: I can't do that, we find the way to get it done when needs to be done, bet now it's being taken. None of the politicians ruining for president are even mentioning about Bitcoin and its integral Ecosystem, instead they all have been talking about refinancing the country which means we'll have more ties with the IMF, more international debt in Fiat, which will lead to even more difficult times for the people. 
We need Bitcoin, and a Bitcoiner politician who is able to use our national resource to mine BTC. I hope this nightmare ends, and ends soon...

[GUIDE] How to run an Auction on SN's AGORA Marketplace

I've shared in my previous post [Auctions Formats roots & Why are more or less Suitable for SN' AGORA Marketplace](https://stacker.news/items/931997/r/AGORA) some fundamentals of the reasoning I'll be sharing here. I suggest taking a look if you what to learn more about the history of auctions and how they still available to us today through different technological innovations.

In online communities like Stacker.News, trust isn’t handed down by a central authority—it’s earned through transparency, consistency, and collaboration between the parties. I bet we all here, humbly embody this ethos, allowing us to exchange values and ideas without borders, nor restrictions. Yet, I've been buzzing around trying to figure out ways to enable us to trade openly and transparently. More specifically with auctions, as they take big part in free markets, defining price for goods depending on demand. So, wanted to make somehow this available as I see its absence as a gap for our community-driven commerce.

With this guide, I'd like to make a proposal to solves this gap and try to launch time-tested auction principles into Staker.News, where rules are enforced by us, the community, not any middleman. Transparency is another non-negotiable aspect that need to be considered. That's why public bids and immutable timestamps could help us prevent possible disputes. Transactions obviously need to happen outside the platform, firstly to avoid current [30% sybil fees](https://stacker.news/items/692150/r/AGORA), but it also makes this _game_ much more risky, as per today functionalities, we lack built-in tools for user-driven trades. We'll use what we have. Reputation also matters. We don't have a public index that allow us to understand if a user is trustworthy or not, especially when users are new. Indeed, we do have users' bio that can be used to leave positive or negative reviews.

Let's jump to the facts. I'll try below to set some simple and clear rules to face all these challenges. Consider this just a first draft, help me with your feedback.

## Make Sure You Know Who You Are Dealing With!
Both, buyers or sellers, should always make sure the stackers you are dealing with can be trusted. Consider checking the bio clicking in the `@username`, others have probably left comments there for you to check if it is a reputable stacker or not. [Search](https://stacker.news/search/r/AGORA?amount=&q=%40username) the stacker's `@username` to see if he/she/they have been labeled as scammer or shitcoiner in the past. If you feel uncertain, it is better to ignore the deal than to be scammed. Use a trusted escrow or middleman to protect both parties!

## Pre-Auction Preparation
It's important to come here and be prepared for what your auction and how. 
- Define the **item details**:  ideally prepare a draft document with a clear description, including condition of the item(s) and photos.
- **Format:** Startegize your auctione depending on the item you are selling. You can learn about different auction formats from this [post](https://stacker.news/items/931997#other-formats--variations). The more effective auction format is the one that ends 24 or 48 hours after last bid. This way, last second bidders are automatically out of the game, and it is much more helpful in determining the real market price of your asset. Or you can instead simply define a specific time to end it.
- You, as auctioneer, need to define the **terms**: make sure to specify the payment methods accepted, (ideally onchain BTC, Lightning address or cashu tokens) shipping policies, and buyer responsibilities.
- **Duration** of the auctions: it can not go forever, right? Decide the auction end time, preferably expressed in UTC to avoid confusion among stackers around the Wild West Web.
- Set a minimum **starting bid** & **increments**. Clearly!

## Create the Auction Post
Make sure your auction post is structured and easily readable. When possible, try to follow the formatting below:

- **Title:** [AUCTION] Whatever item Name - Start at `X.XXX BTC` - Ends `5 Apr 23:59 UTC`
- - To make it shorter, you can remove some spaces on amount, date and time as shown below: `StartX.XXXBTC-Ends5Apr23:59UTC`
- **Text:** include the description and photos you prepared earlier.
- **Starting bid:** clearly define amount clearly: `X.XXXBTC` or `X,XXXsats`[^1].
- **Bid increments:**  you can define a minimum or a set bid amount using the same formatting above.
- **Buy it Now:** optionally, you can add your ideal price t sell the item immediately
- **Ending time:** When defined, double check with [time.is/compare/UTC](https://time.is/compare/UTC) to get the exact end date and time: `Ends: April 5, 2025 at 23:59 UTC`.
- **Rules:** Ideally you can define extra rules like:
- - Late bids ignored and voided, timestamps check for validation.
- - Winner to contacts me within 24 hours via nostr DM: `AGORA@stacker.news` or `npub`.
- **Payment methods accepted:** If you accept payment methods other than Bitcoin, like lightning or cashu tokens, mention them here. Beware of _**Pay**Pal_ and other reversible transfer services!
- **Additional information:** You can include information about payment, shipping costs, escrow, and auction rules here.

Let's envision how the auction will play out in an ideal scenario.

#### Bidder Checklist:
- [ ] Carefully read the auctioner post in detail befoore  taking any decision.
- [ ] Order the commets section by **recent** to check if any new bid has been placed.
- [ ] Do NOT post a bid if there's a previous one has posted less than 10 minutes ago, you'll see it indicated in the comment header.
- [ ] Reply to the post simply indicating your bid amount using the format `X.XXXBTC` or `X,XXXsats`.
- [ ] Remember that you have currently 10 minutes to edit your bid.

#### Auctioneer Checklist:
- [ ] Optionally, when on desktop, enable notifications in your browser settings.
- [ ] Order the commets section by **recent** to check if any new bid has been placed.
- [ ] Keep ~~one~~  two eyes on the auction and check for new comments.
- [ ] Reply to comments or respond to bidders' questions.
- [ ] Confirm latest valid bids, for example `✓ Current highest: 0.001 BTC`.
- [ ] Post periodic updates, like `2 HOURS LEFT – High bid: 0.0021 BTC by @user`.

## Close the Auction
- [ ] Ensure you are in front of the screen while before the defined deadline

- When trading a physical item, give buyers an idea on how much natioal and international shipping will cost.
- Keep track of your auction regularly and respond to questions.
- Set up your auction to end at a convenient time, so you can contact the winning bidder and arrange delivery promptly.

**For Buyer**
- Ask the seller any questions you have about the items being auctioned. If you are not sure about the item's condition or if you want more information, you can post your question in the auction thread.
- Replies in the Auctions section cannot be deleted or modified. Choose your bid wisely!
- To keep track of bids in an auction, click the **subscribe** option from the `…` post's menu at the top of the page. The thread will show up in your [notifications](https://stacker.news/notifications/r/AGORA) page.

## Conclusion
- **Sellers:** Be precise in your auction description and terms, keep track of your auction and make sure the bidders are always informed.
