# Are we the only ones who want to use money in social media?

Have you ever wondered if there is a shitcoin version of Stacker News? Putting payments in social media seems like a no-brainer...yet, I'm pretty confident there is no other place on the internet that that is doing anything at all similar to Stacker News. Still, I imagine the shitcoiners want to be able to zap each other (or whatever the shitcoin equivalent of zapping is...). So where is the shitcoin Stacker News?

While mainstream platforms like TikTok and Twitch have in-app coins or gifts that you can send to creators, it's a far cry from any kind of native monetary integration. I remember reading last year that [X had integrated bitcoin tipping](https://bitcoinmagazine.com/press-releases/bitcoin-tipping-is-now-live-on-x-powered-by-bitbit-and-spark), but as far as I can tell, almost no one uses this feature. I assume there's something with the flow that must be pretty unpleasant, because I don't even hear bitcoiners talking about it.

Is there nobody else who's trying to put money in social media? 

There is a thing called Zora which I had a look at last year (https://stacker.news/items/1072892), but it was more of a scam than anything else. There was hardly any activity and instead of simply integrating money, they had some Rube Goldberg idea where every account had its own currency and you were supposed to trade them or something...not interesting. Apparently, this is the preferred method of interacting with money for most shitcoiners.

The only other shitcoin thing I know about that involves mixing money with social media was something called Farcaster.

# What the hell is Farcaster?

As far as I can tell, Farcaster uses an Ethereum layer 2 to store user identities. So you have to pay a storage fee to sign up. Apparently, they do this for decentralization reasons, although I don't know why they couldn't just do the nostr keypair thing and skip the blockchain stuff all together. Anyhow, it's basically a Twitter-clone with tipping and stuff. So it was always kind of in the back of my mind as something that I should have a look at, just to see how they were doing things. Maybe Farcaster is the shitcoin version of SN.

Then, back in December of 2025, Dan Romero, one of Farcaster's co-founders [posted](https://zapper.xyz/cast/0xd29fe76079c5fbb2769b3b9e43e6491abfe10855) this:

At the time, this post caught my eye because it seemed like a bit of a surrender. It reads to me like Farcaster is conceding that nobody wants decentralization and so they're pivoting to being a wallet. Apparently, they experienced a bit of a lull in 2025...

By late 2025, MAU had cratered to under 20,000 — a 75% decline that no amount of narrative spin could paper over. I find a number like 80,000 monthly users hard to believe. Apparently, so did the people behind Farcaster. Earlier this year, Farcaster returned all funds to investors and [sold](https://x.com/dwr/status/2014469533210456166) to the (very much centralized) company that was doing all the storage of posts and stuff.

# What does this say about using money in social media?

The shitcoiners never really used money to moderate the experience the way we do here on Stacker News. Not that they are incapable of understanding the concept. Here's Bryan Armstrong [talking about Base](https://x.com/brian_armstrong/status/2006173524365541543):

> I do think having a social feed is important to get that distribution - whether for novel apps/businesses/builders, investments, prediction markets, social trading features, alpha/insights etc. **And crypto is a good signal to use to rank these that is harder to fake since there is real value being exchanged** (as opposed to bot farms etc that are a big challenge in traditional social media). So I suspect the feed is important, with a crypto native like button. What type of content ultimately does best in the feed is anyone's guess at this point though. We won't know unless we ship it and get the data. Your actions in the app are important signal we'll use to iterate.

The idea is there, but as far as I can tell from things like Zora and Farcaster, they've never bothered to simply use money to moderate the user experience.

Bad Day to Be a Screen - Why Headless AI Agents Kill Conventional UX Patterns

Churchill once stated _"Democracy is the worst form of government...except for all the others"_. If Churchill were a technologist in 2026, he'd say the same about screens.  

Like most technological paradigms, screens dominated not by pure merit but by necessity. Computers couldn't understand speech. Voice recognition was a joke. The mouse was revolutionary. Screens were the **only way** to interact with software -  a necessary interface between human intent and machine execution.

But every paradigm has a shelf life.

Agents slash through the red tape of conventional menus, buttons, and swiping. They live _inside_ the electronics, swim inside the data itself. Agents _are_ the software. Screens were the steering wheel. Autonomous systems don't need steering wheels.

Agents' inevitable outperformance demands that screens be quickly put on the chopping block.

The Death of the Screen is one of the great white pills of the AI Revolution. Less doom scrolling, keyboard warrioring, and eye strain. More space for face to face interactions, grass touching, and quiet time. A major victory for the health and comfort of the user.
### The Rise & Fall of Screens
Before screens, the world was analog. Want to book a flight? Call a travel agent, wait on hold, spell your name three times. Need to research something? Drive to the library, hope they have the right encyclopedia, photocopy pages for 10 cents each. If pockets of the world were digital at all, it was rigidly constrained - command-line interfaces, mainframes that required you to wait in line to run calculations we'd consider trivial today. The space of compute belonged to fanatical nerds, technicians, and high-level business people who could see the value. Everyone else was locked out.

Screens and GUIs changed everything. The mouse, the trackpad, Apple's obsessive focus on user experience - these made computers **usable** for normal people. Democratized technology. Not just programmers, but graphic designers, lawyers, accountants, and even grunge bands. Screens delivered utility - bookkeeping, travel booking, social networking. But they also unlocked a new medium for beauty. Designers could sculpt pixels. Musicians could compose in GarageBand. Filmmakers could edit in their bedrooms.

Then came the downside.

The ability to remotely convey beauty gave way to infinite scroll algorithms designed to keep you watching. The ability to network humans gave way to faceless mobs dunking on strangers for engagement metrics. Productivity tools became digital leashes. You were supposed to use email; instead, email used you. The screen promised liberation but delivered 8-hour days hunched over a desk, eyes burning, neck aching, life happening somewhere else.

The screen's fundamental flaw is this: **it demands your presence.** You can't use a screen without stopping everything else. It's synchronous I/O. You query, you wait, you read, you click. Repeat. The computer can't do anything unless you're there to drive it.

This was fine when computers were dumb. But now they're not.

For decades, this was the only option. Computers couldn't understand natural language. They couldn't reason. They couldn't act autonomously. Screens were necessary because humans had to operate the software step-by-step.

But that constraint just evaporated. Agents live inside the machine. They're infinitely flexible, deeply personalized, and they work whether you're watching or not. Screens stop being mandatory. They become **optional.** A convenience, not a requirement. The sideshow, not the main act.

## What Changed in the I/O: LLMs as Intent Translators, Agents as Action Translators
Humans tend to take for granted the ease with which we understand language. But it is only through the intense rigors of evolutionary dynamics that humans cultivated this ability. Contrast the richness of human language against even smart animals. Translating this easy human faculty into software evaded computer scientists for decades. And during that time, screens were the only game in town. You needed buttons, menus and the like to translate human intent into meaningful output.
### Inputs: From Buttons to Intent
Buttons and interfaces become obsolete when machines can understand plain language

The LLM breakthrough in natural language processing  [(decades in the making)](https://www.pullthatupjamie.ai/app/share?clip=2211ab1d-1c45-4129-9244-3971502c4174_p41) finally gave machines the ability to understand human intent directly. As this technology is perfected, the barrier between humans' most basic instinct (talking) and the machine dissolves. The interface stops being a rectangle you stare into. It becomes your voice.

### Outputs: From Screens to Action
The breakthrough with agents like OpenClaw is orchestration: reliably translating intent into a sequence of actions that accomplish the goal. **This breakthrough is equally consequential (and arguably more impressive from a 1 man team). The OpenClaw breakthrough solves the other half of the automation equation: meaningful automation of outputs.**

With these two breakthroughs together, screens stop being mandatory. Inputs don't need buttons. Outputs don't need dashboards. The interface becomes invisible.

The constraints that forced us to use screens just evaporated. LLMs handle the input. Agent frameworks like OpenClaw handle the output. You don't need to translate anymore. You just say what you want.

When software works without you watching, screens become checkpoints, not workstations. You review outcomes. You don't operate machinery.

Let's observe how the paradigm shift is influencing my product in realtime.

When I set out to create PullThatUpJamie, my mission was to kick the podcast space up a notch with AI. To make the podcast knowledge base the Library of Alexandria it should be. ## What the New UX Looks Like
Without the constraints that kept screens dominant, new more natural paradigms become possible. Here's a quick rundown from least to most futuristic
### Async First Interactions
In the past, work was sitting in a cubicle, looking at our software tools and willing them to achieve the result. Now that we have what are effectively digital employees, our relationship changes. Instead of clicking and grinding through menus, we meet with them periodically. Instead of sitting under a fluorescent lamp typing away, we can go for a walk and text the agent over Signal to give it direction. Instead of fully synchronous click-by-click paradigms, we prompt agents with feedback as though they're a digital colleague or employee.

This is already happening!
### Voice as Primary Interface
This paradigm is already partially cooked. While not 100% seamless, it's quite good and allows even _more_ flexibility into the asynchronous workflows we described above. Speak, don't type. Walk, don't sit. The screen becomes optional.

### Visual Assets Over Text Walls
[Justin Moon on TFTC](https://www.pullthatupjamie.ai/app/share?clip=57a771a2-8eec-4879-a94e-af00f52001fd_p204) recently made an excellent point on this front: Text walls from LLMs are great until they're not. I am certain they'll have their place, but text walls are anti-intuitive in many cases. Remember: in many AI use cases, our success is measured on human understanding and satisfaction.  NOT on how many words we throw at them.

When it comes to conveying something complex or technical, a picture is almost always worth a thousand words. Imagine video, interactive schematics, diagrams, graph networks, and concept maps. These are the dark horse interfaces that will almost certainly steal the future.

That is why I so heavily emphasized the new layout of Jamie: convey the richness of connected concepts and do so while inspiring a sense of beauty and wonder.

I expect each of these UX patterns to blossom in the new agent paradigm. Setting aside far-future scenarios, what are the immediate implications of this shift?

### What are the Pros and Cons?
While networked agents raise numerous concerns, I actually view the new UX paradigm they unlock as highly positive. Liberating us from the screen could be the first step in a much healthier, much more pro-human relationship with the tech that drives value in our lives.

**Pros:**
- **Tech Gives Us a Chance to Develop Healthier Habits:**
	• **Face-to-face interactions:** When you're not glued to a screen, you're present with the people around you
	• **More grass touching:** Physical movement, outdoor time, actual human proximity instead of Zoom fatigue
	• **Better posture and ergonomics:** No more hunched shoulders, neck strain, or carpal tunnel from 8-hour keyboard marathons
	• **More quiet/meditative time:** Async workflows mean less constant interruption, more space to think
- Breaking free from Dark Patterns:
	- **Doom scrolling paradigm collapses:** When there are no longer feeds or screens that enable them, the infinite scroll trap dies
	-  **The end of keyboard warrioring:** When interactions don't occur behind a screen, perhaps the temptation to verbally assault strangers is attenuated
	- **Less eye strain:** Your retinas will thank you

**Cons:**
- **The ability to leave a screen behind does not guarantee people will.** Ensconcing yourself in a fake world like "The Matrix" will probably become increasingly tempting for some. VR headsets, AR glasses, and BCIs could make screen addiction look quaint by comparison.
- **Could we port over the same problems as always?** Surveillance capitalism doesn't need a screen - it just needs data. Dark patterns could migrate to voice interfaces (manipulative prompts, artificial scarcity in agent responses). The medium changes, but the incentives might not. My hope is that these types of manipulations will be easier to spot and less effective. I can recognize when a voice is shilling me something I don't need but I can't necessarily discern my scroll algorithm is manipulating my emotions/viewpoints.
- **Cognitive diminishing due to overreliance:** If agents do all the thinking, we risk atrophy. I wrote about this extensively in Don't Let AI Think For You: Why I Built a Visual Search Engine for Free Thinkers. The short version: outsourcing cognition is dangerous. Use agents as tools, not replacements for your own critical thinking.

Like any tech shift, this could go really well or really badly. Usually it's a mixture of both. But I like to stay optimistic as I try to collaborate with peers and users alike to steer this in a positive direction.

## What Now?

This shift is happening whether we're ready or not. The question isn't "if" screens become optional - it's who builds the world that replaces them.

**For builders:** Stop designing for screens. Build APIs agents can consume. Make your services headless-first, modular, and outcome-driven. The winners won't have the prettiest UI - they'll be the ones agents can talk to.

**For users:** Start experimenting now. Pick one agent-first tool and actually use it. Try async workflows. Try voice. Go for a walk and text your agent instead of grinding through menus. The future doesn't arrive all at once - you have to lean into it.

**For investors:** Bet on outcome providers, not tool providers. The companies building "better Photoshop" are walking dead. Look for agent-first architectures, headless workflows, and businesses that facilitate machine to machine commerce - like how Alby does with its Lightning-native payment rails. The Agent Economy will emerge from these forces together.

The great mid-Atlantic Bitcoin meetup was the gathering of multiple meetups across the region, from New York, to North Carolina, from Jersey Shore to the Shenandoah Valley. They came together to “strengthen grass roots networks driving Bitcoin forward in the real world.” The event was held at a place I’ve wanted to experience myself for a long time, since the early stories of burgers and beers being paid for with sats at Pubkey New York, but this is the new Pubkey in DC. I came close to not attending this event because I had work the day of and early work the day after, with a 1.5 hour commute each way, but WOW, I’m glad I made it. The driving force getting me to the event was my friend Nick speaking at the event. He was attending to represent the meetup he has helped grow over the years in Virginia called the 757BTC community. Walking the streets of DC for my first time ever, headed to a Bitcoin meetup at a place bustling with past and future Bitcoin activities felt surreal. Heads are turning as I walk the streets of DC in sandals this time a year, but I'm a west coast boy. I'll die in sandals likely. I see the Pubkey sign poking out into view, I've made it. I take a breath, smile to myself, and walk in. This place is big! The first thing I notice is the general western theme throughout the bar: dim lights, wood everywhere, lots of barstools, some cowboy themed pictures and trinkets, two bars back to back separated by a wall, and . . . a full suit of medieval style armor holding a dim candle? Sweet. I feel like wearing a SN cowboy hat would be wildly appropriate in this place. The next thing to capture my attention was a large block clock on the wall of the bar facing the entryway. I’ve never seen one in person before. On it I read the BTC exchange rate of 66k USD, block height [937291](https://mempool.space/block/0000000000000000000183138fbf55a3f88813814da5fd30aff34b4cdabc54e4), current hashrate, and scrolling information about the difficulty adjustment. I see two familiar faces in the other bar area with the stage, couches, tables and chairs. Nick and his wife Lacy arrived earlier and flagged me down. Catching up felt good. I hadn’t seen either of them for a couple years now, and they’re now happily expecting a baby girl in July. I notice quickly that (baring Lacey) everyone has a beer but me, so I excuse myself to go to the bar and remedy that. Here they have a second, identical block clock hung on the wall. Normally I prefer to ask for local brews in new areas but there was no time for that with Guinness on tap. As the bartender places my chilly guinness and the portable POS device I ask him right away if I can pay with sats. A couple chairs down someone exclaims “fuck yeah!” and gives me a friendly nod before turning back to his drink. He had long hair, a beard, and a shirt that said pubkey on it. Am I sending this guy sats? I have no idea. I’m here for the excitement either way. They’re using the square terminal here and it’s a quick seamless exchange over the lightning network. 21% off everything on the menu if you pay with sats! Equipped with my beer I head back to Nick and Lacey and a couple of their friends. Nick was giving me an update on everything he has been doing in Bitcoin Landia before he was whisked away to do a short podcast with some of the other panelists in the studio room just a few feet away. So I’m left with Lacy, Claude, and his wife. Claude is also a part of the 757BTC group and will be representing it on the unadvertised second panel. He has his own meet up in the same general area as Nick and they have worked together quite a bit over the years. Lacy introduced me to Claude and his wife as the guy who orange pilled Nick, which honestly felt really good. For a while I've been rather disappointed in myself for the way I bitcoin. My lack of self learning, lack of improving my own custodies and securities, and my lack of activity in the space all wash away from my shoulders for a moment with Laceys nice comment. Nick is crushing it, however. He does a tremendous amount for Bitcoin seemingly every day and I’m very proud of him and everything he has done/is doing. He motivates me to improve every time we catch up. And there he is, a few feet away, on a podcast at freaking Pubkey! Spreading the good word. Awesome.

I head to the bar and quickly order the Vienna beef Chicago style hotdog. This time the bartender put a LN invoice in front of me without needing to ask. Being alone with my beer and delicious dog covered in all sorts of yummy things is comforting and I decide to sit and take my time. During this time at the bar, I witnessed four different people come to the bar for food or drink or both and they all paid with lightning. One paid from a Strike account, one with Blink wallet, and two paid with wallets I didn’t even recognize. Every payment was quick and frictionless. I’m committed to taking my time before returning to the ever-growing crowd of bitcoiners near the stage. Everyone seems to have accomplished so much and is so involved in this thing or that. On one hand it’s amazing to be lost in a sea of so much Bitcoin conversation and happenings, but I can’t escape the rolling waves of imposter syndrome. I finish my beer and order another--sats flying through the Lightning network and over the counter, which I find very fun. With the block height at its all-time high as well as my liquid encouraged confidence, I head back to socialization.

Everyone is mingling around and the crowd is getting bigger and bigger. I try to count but get distracted around the high 60’s. At block [937300](https://mempool.space/block/00000000000000000001e3b76b00315dfb837f7b8e960849a8df6af8f78855b6), woah that was fast, I asked Claude rather bluntly if he had any opinions on the OP-Return controversy that seems to have the whole community in a …. knot. I loved his answer. He told me he doesn’t really have strong feelings either way and he’s dwelled on both sides philosophically. Ultimately he doesn’t think it deserves this much in-fighting and will just stay humble and stack sats. After talking to Nick a while I notice it’s now [937304](https://mempool.space/block/00000000000000000001d851f8b613817484e337c999145fb1c6ecf30cdc3b95). Our conversation was super cool. I asked him too what he though about OP_Return and he had a similar answer to Claude. We spoke about Mathew Kratter, how we each watched him a lot in the past but he has since become too jaded and pitch-forky lately and has lost both of our views. He told me about this stellar project he did hosting a mining node on AWS where people could donate hashrate to it. The miner got up to nearly 100 PH!!! The node earned 14 million sats which were all donated to operationbitcoin.io . Those guys are awesome and deserve to be checked out. The bitcoin veterans scene is getting HUGE. At block [937306](https://mempool.space/block/0000000000000000000006a6b12653069de06ce75328cf9e1b1e4aa12a6fcace) Nick and Claude were practicing some predetermined panelist questions with each other and one question was “what has been your biggest mistake as a community builder? Nick said he felt they got too technical too quickly. Which is really great for some, but he felt that for newcomers it could have been a turn off and perhaps a reason for slowed growth. Claude felt that they had been too focused on casting too wide a net. Instead of hyper focusing on putting bitcoin in front of as many people as possible, more focus and attention should have been put on the people they already had. They had some recurring members with really good strengths, and they both felt that they should have leaned into those strengths and helped build up the already-attending crowd, instead of growing their numbers as quickly as possible. People come to Bitcoin when they’re ready, they say. And I agree. I’ve seen too many people hurt or misguided by forceful adoption. I’m even guilty of it myself. When building our bitcoin social networks, it’s important to strengthen the skills and relationships of the people who are here voluntarily instead of aggressively trying to save the world with the Bitcoin life boat. Somewhere in the middle of question practice they brought up a new thing they’re doing they call sat markets. The bitcoin meetups of 757 take turns hosting a market where only sats are accepted as currency and so far it seems like they’ve had some great success. They’re getting real merchants to show up, meetup members are branching out and learning new skills to sell for sats, and even many children are involved. Nicks daughter, only nine, makes 3D printed bitcoin accepted here signs and other trinkets and sells them at these markets. She’s well equipped to send and receive sats and loves collecting bitcoin. They each said the kids are big in numbers and are all generally really excited and capable to collect Satoshis, which is just wonderful. Bitcoiners making Bitcoiners. Not just in social network peers, but biologically too! As the network grows, it grows. Among this conversation and the roaring conversations all around me it’s really hard to give any weight to the doom calls of @denlillaapan  or anyone else who shouts bitcoin's current exchange rate is a mark of its failure. How can that be? Bitcoin doesn’t promise to increase in fiat value forever. Bitcoin doesn’t know fiat exists. It promises to allow us to send a transaction over the internet peer to peer with a unit of account that has a finite supply. And that’s about it! It has never failed in those regards, so to call the project a failure among this little dip is just lost on me. I think this rhetoric is even hostile to bitcoin's purpose and is self-defeating. At this point we’re at block [937307](https://mempool.space/block/000000000000000000023950366e389110031c7d56e7492d2cbea4c5462eba20) and the panel is about to start. The area in front of the stage is packed and the screen behind the panel highlights the theme for tonight: building community. I throw an ear to this conversation and that and I pick up snippets of growth everywhere I listen. People networking, talks of starting meetups, projects being worked on or started, conversations of successes and failures, there’s nearly 100 people in this room and everywhere I listen I hear growth. Slow, inevitable growth. At block [937308](https://mempool.space/block/00000000000000000001278251812583b2403e1cd874a63e246ac42a3ce1b4c3), sandals under my chair, sitting crossed legged and doing my best to not socialize, I look over my shoulder at a bookshelf with many familiar books. Mastering Bitcoin, Grokking Bitcoin, The Bitcoin standard, and Natalie Brunell’s new Bitcoin is for Everyone. I arm myself with the book, nose down, and thumb through. I’ve been curious about the book and have been wanting to vet it so I can perhaps recommend it where I thought appropriate. Overall I was pleased with what I saw, not much deviation from everything we’re used to in these introductory books, but I decided I wouldn’t mind recommending it to certain people.

I didn’t do too much notetaking during the entire panel portion because I wanted to listen and pay attention, so I don’t have as much information as I’d like to share with you. But at [937315](https://mempool.space/block/000000000000000000013dd48594a8161b4ec560ceb1a6b5331842ee8c62a1ce) they were each asked what it takes to start and maintain a meetup. They each gave their spiel and it was general consensus that consistency is key whether you have just 2 people or 100. Just keep showing up, learning and practicing, and eventually you will have a solid base for others to stand on and grow with you. It was really cool to see each of these guys, from their own meetups, coming together and creating this big super meetup! It reminds me of big fat lightning nodes with their own established channel connections connecting to each other for the first time. At [937316](https://mempool.space/block/00000000000000000001091468199592e9bc88426b25217ce9706796df8973ab) the topic was the proliferation of the Mid-Atlantic Bitcoin meetup and what we can do to keep it going. The message was interconnectivity. Grow locally and reach out abroad to learn and connect with each other. The bitcoin way. It was really nice to see everyone come together from multiple cities and states, all around the north east, to form this big hodgepodge of Bitcoiners. It wasn’t just the panellists from all over, mind you, it was the entire crowd. Individuals came from all over to support their own friends who were speaking and intermingle with like-minded people with one common goal. Bitcoin is not dead friends. It hasn’t failed. It’s growing and abundant with life. Nick later told me that someone from this meetup was so pumped and motivated that he started his own meetup the day after! There was an advertised merch room with free bitcoin themed things to take so I went to check that out with Nick and Lacey. There was so much stuff! There were many bitcoin accepted here signs made by NoWastebtcSigns, an awesome project. Here’s a geyser fund for them: https://geyser.fund/project/nowastebtcsigns. There were flyers for a cool website https://www.bitcoinmerchantcommunity.org/ that I think were made by https://www.herecomesbitcoin.org/ because there were images of that hilarious character on them. There were even plushies of that character but only a few were lucky to get one. When you scanned the QR code it brought you to a page that was built for merchants to walk them through accepting their first sats. There were also links to facebook where they could connect to other merchants who have started to accept sats too. They went quick! I gathered a few things for Dana from this post: I got her the flyer, a small plastic bitcoin accepted here sign, and a few stickers with the same message. Some subtle, some not. 

Overall, great time. It was really cool and motivating to be among so many bitcoiners in person and it was a great reminder of just how not-dire Bitcoin's health is. A network's value is directly proportional to the number of its participants and it was a deep pleasure to find myself among many of them. Everyone was in high spirits and excited to share and learn and expand. Ever growing. There was no Bitcoin is dead talk, Bitcoin failed us, no nasty opinionated name calling about BIP 110 or OP-Return limits, just a happy growth focused crowd. Ever growing.

# Stock I like the most

I think `HOOD` is the company I like the most. UEC and LUNR are close behind but I think HOOD is set up nice to capture a lot of market share from when the Boomers pass on their wealth to the next generation. Currently HOOD is at a $68B market cap. When comparing them to other brokerages like Goldman Sachs (GS) and Morgan Stanley (MS) both have market caps well above $200B. Will have to go with `MCD`. The cost for one share is way too many sats (500k) plus the company sells fiat food. Low cost processed food that people get addicted to at the detriment of their health. PLTR was a very close second due their roll in building the police state but that market can possible pay off well at the expense of freedom.
