Nostr or "Notes and Other Stuff Transmitted By Relay" is a Decentralized Social Media Protocol developed to combat the issues with mainstream social media today.

Nostr is Built on an Open Source foundation which is what makes it special, Traditional Social Media Platforms are Closed Source and Centralized meaning that one company or entity has total control over it, this means that they get to decide who can be on the platform and what a user can say.

On Nostr, the users control and host Nostr on thousands of different media servers and hosts called relays, this means that no one user has total control over the protocol, allowing true freedom of speech and ideas to flourish.

How Can I Join Nostr?

You can join Nostr on an App or Website of your choice called a client, These clients are made by People on Nostr who want to help Free speech and connection grow, There are many clients available, for starters, we recommend Damus for iPhone users and Amethyst for Android users. These clients will help walk you through setting up your account. And if you need help, the community will be happy to help you. Just post your question with #AskNostr and #Introductions.
